I'm not a bar person(I'm not from New Orleans, lol) But if I were, I think this would be my place. Super-friendly staff(I think one was the owner) and killer décor. Put Queen Trini Lisa's food in the mix with rum punch and you have an unbeatable combination.
I pop into the Portside Lounge regularly on Sundays for a couple of drinks, catch some live music, and take away a few pounds of boiled crawfish. Tiki cocktails here are terrific, and well priced. This is a gem of a neighborhood tiki dive. Portside is way off the beaten tourist path in a Central City neighborhood. It's a meeting place for some local krewes and social clubs.
