The food is really good and fresh!!! - The service is great... We enjoyed so much the lunch there and we planning to come back this Saturday. Sorry for the pic with the empty bowl, I was so excited that I forgot to make a photo before eat. 😡
Great service and incredible food. I have tried a good portion I of the menu and haven't had anything I I didn't like. Leave room for dessert - they've got some interesting stuff. Shellfish allergies beware - most dishes are seasoned with shrimp paste. They do have a small but decent shellfish free menu.
😍 the Manhattan Beach location, the downtown location didn't diaapoint! Good ambiance, cozy and intimate setting. We ordered family style and shared everything amongst 4 of us... It was all good.
extremely tasty stuff! asian fusion for sure, tasty cocktails and unique, well-presented dishes. three of us shared a few items and nothing was bad. can be a bit on the crowded side so plan carefully!
The food was great and a few of them actually reminded me of dishes I got in Vietnam and Cambodia, which speaks to their authenticity. The pork belly was perhaps some of the best I've ever had. The lobster was really hard to eat... Don't get it on a date.

Was visiting LA from Phoenix and was on our way back home, driving. My wife had a taste for Chinese so we tried to go to a place we went to a couple years ago but the were closed. My brother in law found this place on Yelp. I live in Japan for 8 years, and Korea for a year so I'm usually disappointed with Chinese food in the US. This is definitely the best Chinese food I've had in the States. Try the sweet and sour chicken or pork, and you'll see what sweet and sour is supposed to look and taste like. My wife is from Chicago and is always bragging about that China town's food. Even she had to admit this was the best she's had. The food was so fresh, that we didn't even have that stinking smell in the car for the 5.5 hour ride back to Phoenix. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating. The manager came over and talked to us for a few minutes. We will make it a priority to eat here every time we go back to LA.
This place was amazing!! We literally went 2 days in row. The Slippery Shrimp is incredible! It's like there was a party in my mouth! The staff is great and quick! I'm gonna make it a point to come here every time I'm out here!
Great food with excellent service! The employees are always friendly. My favorite is the shrimp fried rice and kung pow chicken! Temp your taste buds at the place! Everything is good!
Outside it's look like a simple place. But inside is a really nice place, the environment is friendly and the food is very good. We'll back in our next visit to LA.
Enjoyed good portions of delicious Chinese food. Nice decorations and quiet enough. Fast service that I would describe efficient rather than overly friendly.

I am not a Chinese good expert but I am an expert on taste. This is a place with great taste! All the good is simply served and perfect for sharing. Make sure you have the House Special Shrimp - it's slightly spicy and crunchy and oh so good. Park in the lot to the left of the restaurant and get validated inside. And if you want a little dessert, just walk across the street to Phoenix bakery for a wonderful treat.
Great food & genuine Chinese food! Service was a little slow but works were very nice. After seeing other reviews my girlfriend & I walked from the Hollywood strip all the way there just try try it out & it was worth it!! Definitely going to go back next time I'm in town! Prices are also typical nothing over priced & large portion.
Came here with my husband while on vacation and the food was amazing! All the plates are family size so it's easy to share. A lot of famous people have also been here and it's cool to see all their pictures on the wall. Staff is also really friendly.
I wanted a quick bite since couldn't parking opted to this restaurant after reading positive reviews but I aghast it wasn't the food I expected. I ordered brocolli with pork and a chicken dish. I expected Chinese broccoli to be served with pork dish but it wasn't. Both dishes fell short of flavours. The service was fast and courteous.
I love this place! The house special shrimp is thr best. My family has been coming here for at least 20 years.

I've been here a couple of times with a positive mentality. It's always the same. Bad service. Waiters can't be bothered to check up on you or refill your water. Kept asking us if we were done and wanting to pack our food (the place wasn't even full) not a welcoming place and the food isn't anything special.
Came here for my birthday last night and it was a great experience! You get your own hot pot and the meats look fresh with lots of veggies to go with! The dipping sauces are decent. I enjoyed it a lot, definitely come check it out for $26/person for ayce hotpot. Happy hour is 4-6 pm for $22 and I will be back for that next time! Despite what other reviews write regarding temperamental issues, they were alright.
Drinks out of this world. Food very good. Really good high class atmosphere with a lot of really nice art around the restaurant. My new fave in Chinatown
This place is nice and elegant up class Chinese restaurant. Not a regular down the block regular Chinese restaurant, the price is on the high end but the location and food is good.
Plum Tree Inn " is" Los Angeles Chinatown cuisine to me. Since I was a child I have associated this landmark with being the ideal Chinatown restaurant. It's a class act when it comes to decor and unlike many restaurants in the area they have a full bar and wine list. It's a class act and when entertaining friends from out of town Plum Tree won't embarass you, the grade A is well deserved. My favorite appetizer us the Barbecue Spare ribs which are so hard to find these days on any Chinese food menu. Great soups, I really like the Crab Meat in Corn Soup or Traditional Hot and Sour. A great Crispy Duck, Shrimp in Black Bean or Lobster sauce, Jade Chicken and Yang Chow Fried rice round off my top favorite five. Add this place to your " to do list" you won't be sorry, great service too!

Great atmosphere and service. Met the owner who was a friend of a friend. Told him that I wanted something vegan and he recommended a dumpling. They were very good. Wish I had the time to order more food before the concert. Plan to visit again.
We've been hearing fantastic things about this bar since it opened and were eager to try it out. We were sadly very disappointed. The ambiance is fantastic but if your signature drinks are HORRIBLE it makes it tough to give this place anything but 2 stars. We tried their signature punch, coffee, and horchata cocktails and they all were all undrinkable. What made it worse is the fact all the flavors are derived straight out of a flavoring syrup, so they tasted extremely chemically. Very unbalanced with the alcohol content. We ordered their beef noodle soup and it was fantastic. The meat was the real winner in this dish which is usually the thing I dislike most. The most tender slow cooked meat I ever ate that wasn't over cooked. Scallion pancake was good, but normal. I have no doubt their lunch specials are great but if you're out and about bar hopping on a weekend skip this place.
Peking Tavern gives off that 70s-80s oriental design vibe and it's a really nice place for being in the basement of a building. The dumplings are surprisingly good for downtown LA, especially if you've been spoiled eating in the SGV your whole life. The drinks are also pretty darn good, the peachy keen is gingery while the jade something has cucumber juice in it. Both cocktails we're available for happy hour and great.
Excellent handmade Chinese noodle dishes, soups, and dumplings! Peking Tavern is a cozy gastropub tucked beneath street level in downtown LA. The offer a generous Happy Hour menu, and a nice selection of beers and superior cocktails. Highly recommended!
Great hole in the wall with delicious handmade dumplings and noodles! Locals hangout with reasonable prices. Check it out!
