The new Fornax is very sad and makes me sad. Smaller sized items at a higher price and not quite as good. Could anyone make a smaller Hostess cupcake? I for one liked the previous unique style of the food and the slightly funky look of the place. Now it's just another blando place. And the Breakfast sandwich is not the same -terrible. It tasted like old grease.

Rough. Was so excited. Just needed bread to make garlic bread with pasta…At the cash register I decided to treat myself to a chocolate chip cookie. It was terrible. Dry. Hard. Cashier said - oh, those were baked on Sunday - it was now Wednesday. I asked for a different cookie. I thought I’d try an oatmeal raisin. Cashier said - oh, people don’t like those. Ugh. I ended up with a giant Oreo. It was meh.Got a batard for garlic bread… I’d give it a 7 out of 10? It was a day old too, as per my cashier…So, not fresh. Not good.

The new owners stripped out everything that made this place so eclectic, fun, and special. Now it's generic and boring. Such a shame.

I have been a frequent customer at Fornax for well over a decade. I have always been a fan of the delicious sandwiches, salads and homemade soups (butternut squash soup my favorite) When COVID hit I stopped being in the area. Well in December my foster daughter started play therapy at The Home for Little Wanderers on American Legion. Stopped by Fornax a few times to get a chicken salad. Chicken was very dry and they forgot to add dressing ??‍♀️ . 2nd time same dry chicken and forgot some ingredients that I was able to correct before I headed home in the South End. 3rd salad I was pretty mad and called the bakery. I know The owner Kim and asked to speak to her. Welp...found out Fornax was sold and under new ownership ??. No more Kim??. Not sure what is going on with the new owners but I'm not feeling it. That chicken on the mixed green salad is like chicken chips. Please fix this. Also my delicious bread got moldy after 2 days? . Maybe they are working out the kinks??‍♀️. Soup was good, sandwich was good Lil Skippy on the salami. Staff was nice and helpful. I had plans to ask Kim for the butter nut Squash recipe??. Can't believe your gone Kim. I feel like this, if your not going to stick to good quality like Kim always did change the name. Fix the chicken. It's dry AF. Best wishes to Kim and her future endeavors❤️

I had a confusing experience. The menu says that sides are included, so I was looking forward to a bigger meal. My friend and I separately ordered the same thing. She received her sides, I didn't . When I asked, I was told that sides are extra and it was an accident that they added it to my friend's order for free. By then the cafe was too busy and they still had to bring out my beverage (my friend had received the exact same beverage before her order arrived), that I didn't even want to do business with them further.

The food is good, but everything is incredibly slow. Plan on waiting at the very least 20 minutes for your order to come out if you go during typical mealtime hours.

Went to this restaurant and ordered their pizza I got a drink too. Pizza was okay nothing to rave about and for the area the price was fair. Lots of breads to choose from. Which where also a decent price. Inside is small does have seating but not the best but hey it's there if you want or eat there. The service was really pleasant and fast.

I have been going to this bakery for many years. There is a mystique about going to a bakery rather than buying bread from the supermarket. The decor in this place certainly contributes to the ambience of baking bread in your home. That said I no longer want to patronize this establishment’s for the following reasons. 1. If you decide to eat in the tables are always filthy and full of debris crumbs what have you: I have never ever seen anyone come from behind the counter to sweep the floor and wipe the tables down from one customer to the next. More importantly the menu is horrible and the food poorly prepared. I recently ordered a bacon & egg sandwich with cheese. The sandwich had a single egg and two thin slices of bacon nestled between two extremely thick pieces of bread. I also had a piece of coffee cake that was extremely dry and bordered on stale, perhaps cooked several days prior to the purchase. Item on the menu are extremely expensive and do not align with the quality. Clean the dam place up, for God’s sake you pass yourself off as a bakery. Given your pricing, location, you have som major improvements that are long over due. Spoken from a person who have patronized you establishment for many years.

Bread is good. Person who waited on me was not particularly friendly or helpful, perhaps because Fornax is not air conditioned and it was a hot day. Very hot inside store.

This is a regular stop for me! I’ve gotten my family that lives in Maynard & Bolton hooked on Fornax bread and am often told “BRING BREAD!” when planning family functions.Recommend tries:Sourdough, all of it!Rosemary batardCinnamon raisin loafPullman sandwich loafPumpernickel or rye (the strong bread that I often get confused, great for a ham sandwich!)Croissant“Pop tart”Apricot cookie (prefer this over the raspberry one)Their coffee (I buy it whole bean)

I called to place an order for a Caesar salad at 3:15, but no one answered the phone. I arrived to the location at 3:22 pm, and was told the kitchen was closed by an older gentleman even though the website states it closes at 3:30 pm. This would have been avoided if they answered their phone. I will not be returning- poor customer service. Answer your phone and honor the time you state your kitchen closes.
