I called the number listed and it is for a different business. Think it is closed. Someone texted me back saying that.

Small fish market where they do platters, rice bowls. They also have plenty of fish cuts and variety of food items like ramen/udon packs. All reasonable priced. Highly recommend!

I come for lunch to get their rice bowls. You can customize your own or choose from their menu. The fish is very fresh, the rice is well seasoned, and their prices and portions are very reasonable.I recommend trying their musubi or onigiri if they have it!

Love it here, small cozy place. Fresh fish and other snacks and goodies. Great helpful staff and really good prices for their quality. The mixed fish sashimi bowls for 7.99$ as a lunch is a great deal. Definitely worth a visit.

Solid place to get sushi grade fish. They have rice bowls. Japanese owned. They also sell some Japanese groceries. Some of the fish are frozen.

This place has become a regular take out spot for us. The sashimi and sushi is always fresh and delicious. The owners seem very nice.

Omg, this place is amazing. Actually, I have no words to describe it. I have not been there personally, but my husband told me so much about there bowls, so I've asked him to order one for me. I was so skeptical because it seemed to me kind of too plain, but I was so so mistaken! They stole my heart. The fish was fresh, flavorful and delicious! Yes, the bowl itself might seem plain, but it only makes you feel the real reach taste of fresh seafood. Once again, this place is beyond expectations and definitely deserves to be well known in the neighborhood and MA in general.

TLDR: Affordable take out sushi/rice bowls in a mom and pop Japanese fish market. It can be a little confusing walking in here initially. There's no place to "order" necessarily you just have to get the attention of anyone working behind the counter and put your order in. They'll make it fresh to order so expect to wait a little or grab one of the premades from the fridge. There's a fair amount of fish and other things to order which is kinda fun to look at. Of note there is no sitting area in the store and it's take out only. There are two parks close by however and they do give you chopsticks with your order.

If you love raw fish or sushi dishes this is a place to go if you're around the area. It's fresh and affordable. I came in late Saturday afternoon and there was still a line of customers ordering food. So be patient when ordering because there's only one cashier and two people in the back preparing the bowls or sushi. You can order party platters or customize your own rice bowls. You can also buy fish and other seafoods to prepare at home yourself too. There's no seating at this place. It's more like a market. Please be aware that prices seems to have increased. Check out the prices from the menu I've attached.

Best place to buy fresh sashimi! They were originally opened in Allston 10 years ago but recently moved to Newton. Same owner and same fresh fish as before. Definitely worth a visit and supporting the business! You can buy sashimi where you can just cut it yourself at home, or you can also buy a donburi (bowl of rice with sashimi on top). They sell onigiri during the weekdays. Yum.

They have everything you need to make your own nigiri and sushi. Which is pretty much rice and fish. They have ginger and wasabi too You can find Salmon, Tuna, Fluke, Sea Urchin, grouper and more. The prices are really good. So you can prepare a feast for probably half of what your local sushi place charges.

Japanese seafood market that was in Allston, but recently reopened in Newton. They will slice sashimi fresh for you, but they also offer chirashi bowls, platters, marinated fish, etc., as well as some Japanese ingredients. It's pretty small, a fewer freezers/refrigerators, two shelves, and an open section where you can see them slicing and preparing the fish. No seating, so take your fish to go! We got the salmon, fatty tuna, squid, and regular tuna with some amaebi (sweet shrimp) and uni (sea urchin). The fish was pretty good and the shrimp and uni were very large portions for the price. Everything was very fresh and delicious!

Sakanya has turned all focus, my guess, to supplying local businesses with fresh fish rather than being a fast sushi join as well. They no longer offer unagi rolls and may not have avocado or cream cheese on hand for the Boston roll. Ordered the $30 sushi set b and the tuna and salmon were tendony, the rice mushy, and the California roll with a chunk of cucumber and imitation crab meat. The uni is always all sorts of colors. You still can't beat the prices but quality isn't very good. The lady is sweet and it's hard running a one man show but gosh I'm going to Oppa Sushi for my sushi fix.
