This restaurant is way overhyped, the food isn’t good at all and it’s way overpriced. I had a burger that was medium rare when I asked for medium well, the fries were just bland and didn’t taste good and my girlfriend and I were just squeezed in this small table between two other families. It was a very awkward dinner, couldn’t really have a conversation and the food wasn’t good at all. The only thing positive was our waiter was super sweet and very nice, gave him a good tip. Complete waste of a date night.

Food and service were good, but the bill has higher prices than their menu. The people who treated me didn’t want to comment on it.

**A Winning Review for Max's Tavern**Max's Tavern holds a special place in my heart, and with every visit, it never fails to impress. Let me start by raving about their Baseball Filet ala Oscar – it's a culinary masterpiece that hits it out of the park every time. The combination of tender filet mignon, rich crab meat, and savory béarnaise sauce is simply divine. It's a dish I find myself craving regularly and one that keeps me coming back for more. Now, let's talk about the martinis. Oh, they are spot on delicious! Whether you prefer a classic martini or something with a twist, the mixologists at Max's Tavern know how to craft the perfect cocktail. Sipping on one of their expertly crafted martinis while enjoying the ambiance is an experience in itself.Speaking of ambiance, Max's Tavern nails it. The vibe is a perfect blend of swanky sophistication meets Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack meets The Sopranos. It's classy yet comfortable, with just the right amount of old-school charm. And let's not forget about the attentive wait staff who always go above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. And finally, let's talk about the staff. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm smile and friendly demeanor. The entire team at Max's is genuinely welcoming, and it's clear that they take pride in providing top-notch service. As a former student at Smith College, Max's Tavern holds a special place in my heart. Every time I'm back in the area, I make it a point to eat at Max's – it's become somewhat of a tradition for me. And with each visit, I'm reminded of why I keep coming back. Max's Tavern is more than just a restaurant – it's an experience, and one that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a truly unforgettable dining experience.

4 of us went to Max tavern last evening and we all had complaints about the food. My son and I had the French onion soup and it was extremely spice and there were way too many onions and croutons and minimal broth. My chicken and my side of creamed spinach had no flavor. My son's girlfriend ordered the asparagus but the sauce it was served on was way too spicy. My husband had your tavern burger and was very disappointed to have sweet grilled onions on his burger and a very small amount of chess and the burger get was burnt. They ran out of the steak cut my son wanted and it was early in the evening. My son's sangria was not very sweet and no fruit was in it. My espresso martini was really weak as well. We had already sent back the sangria and our waiter. Our waiter was wonderful and offered to take items back but he was vet busy and we didn't want to bother him.We have been to all the other Max's before but never here.We spent $$$ on dinner and drinks that we were not very happy with.It was extremely disappointing and we were out celebrating my son's girlfriend's new job.

I took my daughter for lunch at Max's Tavern today... It was a big mistake!! we both ordered filet and loaded baked potato, after we ordered our waiter came back and told us they didn't recieve an order due in so we were unable to have the loaded baked potato. No big deal we ordered the fries instead. soon after that they brought just our fries to the table, we thought the steak must be coming out next. we ate a few fries while waiting for our steak. The fries were mediocre at best. No big deal we were having a nice time together. Almost 20 mins later our steak comes out. So strange to bring the fies 20 mins before the steak. We didnt make a fuss the waiter said he brought extra fries on the steak plate in case the first ones had gotten cold. we ordered the steak med well. Yes I do believe it sometimes is difficult to know what that is in less ofcourse you are at a real "steak house". hey stuff happens!! we both cut into steaks and one is nearly brown all the way through and the other has a dark red center. We literally could not cut the steak with the steak knife, it was sooo tuff, now keep in mind it was a "Filet ". I kidded with the waiter and asked for a sharper knife. He laughed and said he was going to talk to his Manager and do something for us. He soon returned to the table and offered a dessert. We declined the dessert and he quickly brought our check. Almost $60 per steak and a grand total of $165.00 including a tip. The waiter I believe seemed embarrased and just wanted us out of there. He was totally left to handle the situation and the so called Manager never came out to apologise to us. This was an important lunch for my daughter and I as we hadnt spent time alone in months due to a very tragic illness. We did not matter in the least to this place! I never have written a restaurant review before but, I work VERY hard for my money as most people do and completely felt ROBBED! Dont eat there, there are places that care and want to earn your business. Places that you can walk out feeling like you cant wait to go back. This was such a disappointment!

A little disappointed with our experience solely because of all the hype around this place. Went in on a busy weekend night and waited for a table. Our server ally I believe, was very busy yet very down to earth. Although she couldn't answer a few of our questions on the menu, she helped us pick a few dishes that we ended up splitting. We sadly didn't like our cocktails but because of how busy it was we just sucked em down instead of making a fuss to avoid waiting for new ones. Several dessert options weren't available sadly so we cut our visit short. Typical upscale interior but something was missing for us. Just didn't do it for us.

Attended a retirement party with about 45 others. It's always a welcoming feeling when one of the owners is at the front of the restaurant greeting customers on a busy Saturday Night.Never being here before, my expectations were exceeded. The waitstaff is exceptional. They handled the group with the greatest of ease. The food was served deliciously hot and the dessert was very special unlike anything I have had before. I must say, my wife and I will go back again even though we live 25 miles away.Waitstaff - Exceptional - 5 starsAtmosphere - Excellent - the rest rooms are very clean and the entire restaurant shows pride from the owners.Food Quality - Excellent - everything was fresh. The drinks were brought cold and refreshing and everything brought into this large group looked amazing.Thank you for being a five star operation. Your efforts show and are appreciated.Kid-friendliness: Family atmosphere
