went here when i was a kid. I always love the basketball court there because you can play on it lol. true story: the video game NBA ballers actually persuaded me to visit the hall of fame because it was a physical level in the game

This place was great. I feel like it was really geared toward kids but still great for adults too. The place isn't as big as i thought it would be, but there's a lot of interactive things throughout the museum. There's basketballs with imprints of players hands so you can compare your hand to theirs. They also have life size cut outs to stand next to and feel really tiny. lol. The Kobe exhibit was nice to see and worth it if your a Kobe fan. The bottom level was a huge free for all basketball court, with a full size court and areas for dunking, and for the smaller kids. All in all it was a great experience and would go back in a few years when they have new inductees.

Had a blast at the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts, with my husband and our 15-year-old basketball-loving son. We drove an hour and a half to visit, and it was super easy to find, right off the highway. Minimal traffic and parking in the parking garage was a breeze, and it was free! Paid in the lobby and got our wristbands - absolutely no need to buy tickets in advance online, but that is an option. Be sure to check if there is a private event happening on the day you want to visit because sometimes they shut down for different reasons. The place didn't look busy from the outside but once we got inside it was a popular attraction, especially on the court with balls flying everywhere - enter at your own risk! Haha! But we had a blast learning all about the history of basketball! It's like a museum on 3 floors with interactive games and experiences! Definitely worth the visit if you love basketball!

Disappointing. Best part is the court in the center, but feels like the YMCA on the most crowded day, so watch out for balls to the dome. The displays were ok, but text heavy, and focused on the history of the game itself rather than the spectacular players who played it. There’s one room at the end where you can pull up highlights from your favorite coaches and players, but I was expecting the museum to unfold the history of the game through those who pushed it forward. For $30, I just thought I might enjoy this experience more, and maybe be able to teach my kids about play strategy, the controversy of adding a 3 point line, why Michael Jordan remains the greatest to ever play the sport (dude could fly). For a museum with such an interactive subject, it was still just a museum, and kind of a boring one at that. My kids were bored after 20 minutes. So was I.

I was pretty underwhelmed. Number one, it's in a strip mall. It's shocking how depressing the entrance is, given basketball's global importance. Number two, it's small. We took our time, and we walked through the whole place easily in an hour. Number three, there are not individual plaques for the players. You get to the Hall part of the Hall, and there's just a list of names. You can then read about each of those players on some computer screens, but where the @#$# are the plaques? Those are an iconic part of a HOF. If I were an inductee, I'd be seriously irritated. The exhibits that are there are nice enough -- some decent memorabilia; some nice stories -- but, overall, this feels like a mid-tier museum in a small city, which I suppose is what it is. This place needs money and new leadership and massive step up in ambition and class.
