I recently moved away from Virden and the place I miss most is Gopher Creek. Lovely people and great food & coffee. It is only two minutes from the highway and well worth a visit
Gopher Creek Coffee has lots of personality from the decor to the staff and the changes every day menu. The day we stopped the soup was leek and pear. New to me, and quite nice. Equally unique the sandwich was ham, turkey, apple, goat cheese and balsamic mayo on a very pleasant seeded bread. Also quite good. The biscuit that accompanied the soup was a standout. Perhaps the best this side of my grandmothers. Coffee was also very good. I’d stop again for sure.
As soon as you walk in the door you can’t help but notice the atmosphere seems closer to what you would expect at a family bbq then a usual restaurant. The owners have warm and inviting personalities with a genuine love for every customer that walks through the door. You are instantly treated like family and fed as such.
