I stopped by search of French Macarons for my daughter’s 20th birthday. She wanted that instead of cake. I called in advance to see if they had the flavours she wanted and they had one of them. So I made the stop. It turns out they were mistaken. No biggie. I considered another flavour and started to browse and ask questions about some of the items I was interested in that didn’t have labels on them i.e. flavor. I asked for 6 macarons which was met with a stare and long silence. Awkward. It was like they were deciding if I was there to snatch baked goods and run or what the h*** I was even doing in their store. Though I was considering the meringues and focaccia I decided to shop elsewhere. Somewhere I might feel more comfortable browsing. As I began to pay, I realized that the Macarons were ringing up higher than the price I had seen on their website. Apparently they weren’t surprised it differed. Anyway, to their credit they offered to honour the price I quoted. And I was happy to take my leave. Afterward I wondered if I had a mistake - they were also selling coconut macaroons (the cookies) at $1.50 each. Maybe I hadn’t searched hard enough. (But who knows if that website price was even accurate.) I didn’t feel terrible for long though, because the Macarons were disappointing - hollow with a brittle top (see photos). Thankfully, I found some perfect vanilla macaroons at a shop near Edmonton and Graham where the folks knew how to smile. Birthday celebration saved.It is a hallmark of professionalism to treat all potential customers well, regardless of who they appear to be. To do otherwise is bad for the bottom line. As I was deciding how I might spend my money Chocolate Zen made the decision for me. Leaving was a relief.

It is such a sweet cozy place that sells amazing dessearts! I tried several of them, can't say I love them all, but I am sure everyone would be able to find something to satisfy their sweet tooth craving

I went to the bakery to ask about sugar free options for birthday cake. The person that I first talked to thought that they make these but had to ask. Seemed strange as this is what their website says. I was there with one week notice in the middle of November. The employee had to ask the owner and when I saw this happen in the back he looked annoyed. It made me feel uncomfortable in the shop. A woman came out and said they don't do that. I asked why not because their website says with 3 days notice for dietary need they can do this. It also says in wedding and holiday season to provide more. I was giving 7 days. She said the website was …. She couldn’t even give me an answer. She looked very uncomfortable telling me this. I said I was disappointed based on what was advertised and then she said it’s holiday season.I gave them two stars as it seemed like a nice place and nice looking products. However I don’t feel that I was treated in a friendly manner and very false advertising on their website based on what I was told in the store. I love supporting local but I won’t support that local business. heading to Lilac Bakery instead. I have never had an experience like that there.

Went in today to order a few Christmas eggnog balls, coconut balls and a variety of other desserts. By far the best service I got and highly recommended Chocolate Zen for your desserts. This is now my place to go for any desserts.

They provided us with absolutely delicious cakes and dainties for our wedding! It was all so good. Delivered on time and beautifully presented. We also always get from these guys for our birthday cakes. Would highly recommend their desserts to anyone anytime!

We get cakes here for special occasions. Some in our family are gluten sensitive and CZB accommodates accordingly by offering gluten free cake options. The last one was a raspberry cream filling cake with white chocolate frosting and flakes. All delicious. Their Easter display was delightful (see the photo)
I went to Chocolate Zen Bakery and saw cakes for sale. I asked the employee when the lemon raspberry cake was made and she said today. Brought it home and surprised it was frozen inside. I have had delicious cakes from them before but this time will be my last time. I do not appreciate being told it`s fresh and charged $38 for a cake that had been previously frozen. That is why before I was told I have to pre-order 7 days. I bought it believing that it was fresh. I make way better tasting cakes than this dried out tasteless one.

Their cakes are just to die for. Not only did they do an amazing job on our wedding cake this weekend (Lewak) but we've also enjoyed several of their cakes direct from their shoppe. Highly recommend on all fronts.

We order an $82 cake for a long awaited birthday party from chocolate zen only to learn on the day of the event that it was burnt. We also ordered bakery items that turned out incredibly old and inedible. The cookies were bricks and the cheesecake was yellow on top that’s how old it was. These items should of never been sold. Even though we explained the situation to the owner, we ended up with a partial refund. We still had to pay for decorations on the cake they burnt. I’d suggest to never deal with this business again. I’d hate to be a bride and deal with a burnt cake on my wedding day.
