I love(d) the ambience, food and the service. I went for the first time pre-Covid and can't wait to go back again for a lovely dinner post - covid. Rooting for you not to close permanently due to the pandemic☹

Their caesar salad is the best I've ever had, good food and really friendly staff.

Black Bird Brasserie is a delightful gem of a restaurant situated in St. Boniface. The restaurant itself is well decorated and hasca pleasant atmosphere. Staff were friendly, attentive and they made the dinning experience at The Black Bird Brasserie that much more enjoyable. Plan to make a reservation as the place can get busy. The food at The Black Bird Brasserie was cook to perfection and mouth watering tasty. Portion servings were just right. Desert and coffee to round off the night was delightful. The lime tart is amazing.

Came back. I have been told by many that they have improved and I have changed my rating to reflect.Protip: many complaints of the French onion soup came from lack of cheese. When I asked for the what's cheesiest, the server informed me they can cheese up the soup. What we got back was perfect. (5 ?) sounds like you just need to ask for this. No upchargeProtip2: they have late night eats. I saw a sign as I was leaving. $10 black Bird burger (along with drink specials)The gnocchi was very good. (4-5 ?)The salad was a bit weaker (3-4 ? for me.)The poutine Monsieur was a big hit (5 ?)Service was excellent which is consistent with our first visit.______initial visit below_____Everything was good.I really wanted to give them a 5 but, it requires at least one dish that I'd be itching to go back for and/or I feel they do it better than most. I haven't tried the entire menu though, so if/when I go back I'll update it.I was very pleased with our service tonight. It was a full house but we felt taken care of well enough.Out of everything I tried, I thought the fries were great. I'm not a huge fan of skinny fries but these were done very well.We did the French onion soup (I didn't prefer the flavor of the broth as I had one recently that I liked much more and the amount of cheese was very little). We also had the escargot. This was solid. The trout was good as well (that was on the special menu) and we did the burger that was from Burger week.Their kitchen does a good job. The menu is small enough that that would have been negative points if they didn't. They haven't been open that long so I'm expecting to eventually find something I love.Price point is fair and in line with what it should be

My friend and I shared an appetizer which was a great portion size for sharing, and I had the Chicken Confit. Both dishes were delicious, and expertly served by our friendly and knowledgeable server. I would definitely visit here again.

I can't say enough good things about this place!!! We were just there last night to celebrate my birthday (group of 9). The food was delicious, the service (Kate) was top notch and the atmosphere amazing. This was my first time here and I will definitely be back. Kate was so very attentive to all of our needs, very knowledgable of the menu and gave us great recommendations...we never wanted for anything. The manager (sorry didn't catch his name) also was incredible....there was a small miscommunication with a friend that wanted to pick up my bill and he owned it, put us (the customer) first and made it right so quickly, I didn't even know what was happening. My new favourite place to eat!

Went for a quick dinner on Jan 29th around 6pm, was seated right away though quite busy. Both my husband and I had the black bird burger. The burger was tasty, though maybe it's my personal preference but i would have loved some crunch either some fresh veggies or crisp lettuce, it was a very soft burger. The dipping sauce provided for the burger didn't really add anything for me but was still enjoyable. The fries though were super tasty and didn't need any ketchup provided which was very nice. Service was fast and efficient. Nice cozy vibe. Will go again and try some of the other options on the menu.
3.5 stars for food and attentive service. If you don't speak English well I wouldn't recommend the waitress I had. She was polite but terse. I've never ordered coffee at a restaurant before so I had a lot of questions that may or may not have been repetitive and she answered them well but seemed a bit exasperated. I felt like she was being condescending. I was also very tired from not sleeping well the night before... During and after my meal I saw that she was attentive and polite. She wasn't the best waitress ever but not the worst one either. My friend tried "The meat sandwich", and liked it. He thought the combination in the sandwich was interesting and tasty. I had an appetizer that I didn't know would look like a flat thin pizza. It was a delightful surprise. It wasn't the most dazzling of pizzas but it was yummy. The ice Vanilla coffee was great! 5 stars for the coffee.

Made a reso and it was not needed as the restaurant was quiet when we arrived. However it did pick up. Easy parking and good location. Nice decore and friendly staff. Good beer and cocktails. Waiter was efficient (however he did forget my friends mayo). Menu is small. Food arrived in a good amount of time and was very flavorful. French onion soup and escargot were fabulous. Dressed green salad was superb. Croque Madame sandwhich was mediocre. Not warm enough. I would return to try some other menu items.

My friend ordered the mussels and a flight of wine. She was very pleased with her choice. I ordered the French Onion soup and a glass of wine. I thought it might be enough for lunch but it really wasn’t. That’s ok because it was not on the menu as a meal. It was very tasty though. I ordered dessert and in the end had plenty to eat. Glad we tried it and will go back.

The restaurant was recommended to us while on our holiday visit to Winnipeg. We loved the decor and the food was fantastic. Hope we can return in the future!
