You Retired from the military some of your benefits is shopping at the Military exchange for years, the prices here were amazing went there over the weekend was shocked about how prices have increased The beer wine has increased 50%. The rest of the store most of the shelves were empty, our poorly stocked. I guess they’re letting us know that we are no longer important and if you don’t like it go elsewhere. I got the message gone.

On Christmas Eve, my fiancé took me to the Navy Exchange in Bethesda. If you've never been, it's like a department store! They sell everything from clothing and accessories (including hats, scarves, jewelry, handbags), electronics, cookware, and more. I was in search of a nutcracker, but most of the Christmas decorations were gone. I did find a nice pair of Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 shoes. We also stocked up on alcohol including Stella Rose Blueberry and Strawberry Rose, Rumchata, and 1792 Bourbon. It was nice that there were several lines on different floors that you could pay.

The grub at this food court is top-notch! ???

Quaint sized store with a nice selection off name brand makeups and perfumes. Select section of clothing and expensive name brand purses. Name brand apparel and sneakers. The food court has ample seating with a small restaurant choice for eating. Navy Federal is directly besides the food court. There are two levels in this building and the second level( depending which way you enter)has a package store, electronics, snacks, food, pharmacy, barbershop, and household department. It has most of what you need with decent prices. Not too many sale items.

Only one slow clerk working at the returns section at 3pm on Saturday after Thanksgiving! The customer line is seriously backed up. Also check your receipts to make sure accurate discounts are applied.

Relatively medium-sized store, however, packed with expensive merchandise. They don't have many items on sale as you would expect.

I went to the barbershop to get a basic haircut. My favorite Filipina lady barber wasn’t in. There was an old lady that asked me what type of haircut I want, I said just a basic haircut, just 2 inches. She proceeded to get a comb and used it to measure and said “ok, 5 inches.” I smiled in disbelief and said “no, 2 inches - I just want it cut chin length.” I even used my fingers to measure the length I want cut. She repeated “5 inches” numerous times. I don’t know why she’s insistent on 5 inches. I reiterated I need chin length. I should have left, but I trusted that she will do it right. It was too late to bolt when I found she doesn’t cut hair using her fingers, like what hair stylists usually do. She kept using a separate comb to use as a ruler and cut my hair way above chin length. In the middle of cutting, I asked her if she knows how to cut a long hair, and she said “yes, a long time ago.” ?? Even worse she kept spraying my face with water. So, moral of the story - don’t assume that staff at the barber shop has experience in cutting hair. I ended up cutting jagged edges off my hair when I got home.

As much as I want to like the Exchange, they have poor selection and inventory. Sure the employees well meaning. But I’m not sure why anyone would shop here given Amazon. Their prices aren’t good either - just go look at Amazon and Walmart. Also, their customer service isnt really responsive or helpful. They act as if they’re the only business in town, because, on a base, they kinda are. The only good thingis the package store, if you’re into that.

Small NEX but very clean. Not very big or it doesnt have great selections. If at Walter Reed it is a place to get some food.

Worst package store ever, including the staff. In general, just a small/limited NEX for such a massive joint base. Price checkers and 1x escalator have been broken for 6+ months.

You save money go to vendor stores online or in store (Apple / HP / Microsoft, Samsung, etc). They give 10% to military / Veteran and Education discount. After tax, you still save money than to pay a full price by not paying tax.
