My favorite Italian restaurant in the area. As you walk in you can smell the fresh bread and the Italian spices. We love to start with their salad. They are all great. My husband loves the veal picatta. The lobster and crab ravioli are scrumptious. The lasagna is a must. We also love the mussels and love to dip their amazing bread in the broth. They make this unbelievable dipping sauce for the bread that the should bottle and sell. I can make a meal out of it. Desserts are to die for. The service is always great. Waiters are friendly and very helpful. Will be back soon!
Our food was not hot. The wait staff wasn't attentive. We had to ask another staff member for refills. This is not the norm. Usually our exoerience here is top tier. We have had birthday celebrations and girls day here. This time was very disappointing. After we told our waitress about our experience she didn't even apologize. She said she had a large party she is working with. We still tipped her, but none of us were happy.
Great restaurant. So many great options. Good for children. The appetizers are awesome. Meatballs are classic
Delicious food as usual. Staff attentive. It would be good if they would offer soup and have parmesan cheese at the table.
Pauly was an awesome server !! He deserves a Gold Star and elevated our experience. Sammy's was having a private party so it was loud and very busy in the area where we were seated. He offered a new table away from the area as it became louder. Really Appreciated!
I came here for my birthday dinner and had a really nice experience. The staff were kind and attentive, and the food was excellent. The duck ravioli was flavorful and well prepared, and the chocolate cake was a perfect way to end the meal. I appreciated the thoughtful service and would definitely return.
The restroom was uncleaned and had a stinch of a soiled baby diaper. Some of the dining tables were in close proximity of the restrooms. The food was ok, not grand and was not hot! Price was ok-similar to the Olive Garden.
Our first bisiy to Sammy's Trattoria. The decor and layout of the restaurant was appealing. It was very busy on a Saturday night. When we arrived a couple of minutes before our reservation time, there were 5 other groups waiting to be greeted/seated. There was no one at the hostess desk, and it was about 5 minutes before anyone appeared. One of the groups before us left, and walked over to CPK. It was about 10 minutes before we were reached, and the hostess indicated that we'd need to wait until a table was cleared. When we were finally taken to a table it was in a covered outside area, which was fine. Unfortunately, they had the outside large window open behind our table with a steady breeze coming inside in addition to having the ceiling fans going in that area. Since it was also very chilly night, it was very cold. Our server Renee was very nice and attentive. The food was very good - the complimentary bread was delicious and my husband really enjoyed the bread dipping spread. We will definitely be back but we will either specify we'd like to be seated inside or we will wear coats.
First time diner in Hunt Valley location though regular in Mt. Vernon. Very busy upon arrival but promptly seated. Friendly and professional service. Entrees very similar to other location although the tasty Julia Salad seemed less favorable than one in Mt. Vernon. Nice evening with good service and tasty food.
Always a great experience! Steve is a wonderful host and always smiling when you walk in the front door. Renee is a fabulous server. Food was delicious as usual!

This was our third trip to Sammy's, and it's been going downhill every time. We ordered two apps, the sausage and broccoli rabe, which arrived scorchingly hot, and the calamari, which was cold. They arrived at the same time. Kitchen needs to fire apps in the proper order so they're arrive at the table at the proper temperature. The seafood pappardelle fra diavolo was not at all spicy. We were seated at a table next to a wall with cut outs for wine bottles. On the other side of the wall was another table of 6, and though they were not particularly loud, the empty wine bottle holders acted like a megaphone and amplified their conversation. We felt like we were seated at their table and could barely hear each other. When we asked our waitress if we could move, she seemed totally indifferent. I know it's a popular restaurant and they don't have to care, but I wish that they did.
If you're anywhere near Hunt Valley and don't stop at Sammy's, you're seriously missing out. This gem of an Italian spot feels like stepping into your grandmother's kitchen—if your grandmother was a culinary goddess with a killer drink menu. The food is authentic, comforting, and full of love—every bite reminds you of home-cooked Sunday dinners. Whether it's the rich pastas, the perfectly seasoned sauces, or the melt-in-your-mouth meatballs, everything is made with care and tradition. The service is top notch, warm, attentive, and never rushed. And the drinks? Creative, strong, and beautifully made—whether you want a bold Negroni or a refreshing spritz, they deliver every time. Sammy's isn't just a meal; it's an experience. It's a must-visit, and honestly, once you go, you'll be planning your next trip back before you leave the parking lot.
Terrible Experience! The Sausage Broccoli Rabe Appetizer was the highlight of our dinner. Ordered Lobster Crab Ravioli, Chicken Marsala, Eggplant Parmesan along with the sides. The appetizers came out first and was absolutely delicious. I was looking forward to the ravioli, but was then told that they ran out and weren’t available. I decided to substitute for the Judge K’s Veal. Our entrees showed up and not one of our dishes was passing the “satisfactory” mark. The chicken Marsala had such a bad taste it was sent back for chicken parmigiana. The other 2 dishes were blah and would not be recommended to anyone I know to try. Our check was $100. I left Alasandra a $20 tip for her service. The food wasn’t worth it.
Our food was delicious but at 6:30 it was extremely loud in the restaurant. Service was good
Food is always outstanding. Linguini with red clam sauce is wonderful and loaded with clams and tons of clams in their shell. Risotto with scallops was also fantastic. Service tends to be a tad slow.
