We started off with the catfish bites. Those were absolutely delicious. Crispy, not oily, and the sauce was 10/10. I ordered the lobster poboy which was average. The poboy was a bit dry. I would have loved more mango salsa and sauce on it. Husband ordered the Chesapeake burger and he loved it. We also tried their alligator gumbo. The gumbo had that perfect amount of heat at the end of each bite. Service was excellent for as busy as it was.

Broad AxeVery busySign says seat yourself not true as we were moved from reserved tableMoved to our second seat we had to get menus from customers at next tableOskar Blues beer was banging but needed to be colderThe music in the small room to left as you enter needs to turned downCannot even talk across the table to you companyWife and I both had firehouse burgerWe both ordered the burger to be cooked mediumWhen biting into burger you see the red almost bleeding inside of itThe hand cut fires were a nice touch but would have been better served hot instead of warmThere are several nice beer selections and I just may visit again. If I do hopefully it will be a better experience

I had read some good reviews on this spot and decided to check it out for myself. I ordered a beer, it was some type of fruity beer. It was tasty and sweet. From the kitchen I ordered a Chicken cordon bleu sandwich with kettle chips. I LOVED the freshly made kettle chips. Omg love those..the sandwich was good but there were some other items that were probably better? I'll find out n post here..I really enjoyed the live musical entertainment while I was there. It really set this place apart..so if you're in the area and looking for a cozy, fun spot with locals to enjoy a cold beer and some food this is a great place! Thanks Broad Axe, I'll be back soon!

We stop in here for lunch or dinner on a fairly regular basis. Usually service is good. Food is yummy and usually doesn’t take an extremely long time to come out (it can take awhile sometimes). On a recent evening we stopped in to hear the live music. Unfortunately on this evening, service was mediocre, had to ask for refills, etc. and our food took about 45 minutes to come out with no apologies. We’ll still go back as we enjoy this bar, hopefully it was just a bad night.

Honestly, I haven't seen a piece of fried fish like the size they brought out a couple weeks ago. They have some huge catfish pieces. It's a very welcoming place, the staff are consistently taking care of the customers, and it's a Family-Friendly place. It will get crowded, so expect it might be a little louder than kid's ears might be used to. Not in a bad way, because music's playing as well.Parking is tight, since it's downtown, right next to the main Post Office on Franklin Street. However, there's parking also in the lot for the Fire Department Operations Bldg on Church Street, if their rear lot's full. I think they have Jazz night on Thursdays. And artists come there from time to time. To me, the food's not expensive, and portions are good. Try the "Fried Pork Ribs" with Heinz57 sauce. Yummy.
