Found it to be very disappointingThought it would be high quality but far from itChicken salad was a soup of mayonnaise with little cranberries and walnutsDidn’t ask or provided option for whole wheat bread and ask for lettuce and got cheese on topAlso didn’t look very cleanI would have been better of buying food at the airportThe ladies were nice but the set up is strange as the Subs are not prepared in front of you but in a room on the side of order area

I ordered two small sandwiches, two bags of chips and a bottle of water. $22. The sandwiches were VERY small. Like they were essentially on a bun, respectively. Or a roll. Bagel sized. I felt really ripped off, frankly. My bf loved his sandwich. Mine was extremely heavy on the mayonnaise and had no toppings even though I requested "all."

I'd moved away from the Bangor area over 18 years ago and found myself here on business and with a couple of hours to kill.I knew the Coffee Pot was no more but was pleasantly surprised to find The Legacy is offering the same Super Deluxe with salami on the same Brick Oven bread that was my standard choice for decades. My sandwich did not disappoint and was everything like I'd remembered it to be.The employees were friendly and provided prompt service.I will be making a special trip back and bringing a friend to try the Blue Ox (roast beef with your choice of horseradish or blue cheese).Thank you, The Legacy, for staying true to the old Coffee Pot sandwiches and adding lots more to the menu.

This small and cozy shop makes yummy sandwiches with warm, friendly service. The homemade soups warm the soul on cold days!

I have lived in or near Bangor and for many years I had no idea about this place...It is incredibly difficult to find chicken salad anywhere (in my experience) especially without cranberries or raisins mixed into it but we will talk more about that in a moment...When we walked into this place it felt like walking into a friends lounge area with a kitchen attached to it. The people were incredibly welcoming and kind and the place smelled like something home made was being baked. Now about the food.My absolute favorite sandwich is a chicken salad. I have loved them since the first time I had one after a little league game when I was a little kid. There is something about the rich creamy taste with the salt and chicken in a salad being hoisted by a vessel of delicious bread that always just settled with me unlike any other sandwich.I have tried chicken salad from many...many...many different places and I must tell you that I absolutely LOVE the chicken salad here!!Perfect amount of dressing and the chicken is beautiful broken down so that you don't make a horrible mess on yourself and their flavoring is fantastic.I could go on about it for ages but already I feel my review might be to long so let me talk about their baked goods...My wife and I shared a chocolate chip cookie whoopie pie and it was shockingly fantastic! We ate it in the car and we kept smelling it before we ate become it was so delightful! The cookies are not thick monsters and the frosting in the center is not overly layered, perfectly balanced and homemade!TL;DR: Beautiful place to check out with incredibly kind and welcoming people and absolutely phenomenal chicken salad sandwiches and chocolate chip cookie whoopie pies!

I won’t short them at all, this was de facto the best Italian sandwich I’ve ever had.I ordered from UberEats and as such this will be a shorter review because I didn’t dine in, so I don’t necessarily have anything to say in those terms. However, what I can say is, what I got was not what I was expecting, and I mean that in the absolute BEST way possible. I ordered a Large Super Deluxe Ham and Salami. Let me tell you, I am a big man. I have a big appetite. I could not finish that sandwich. The presentation was very unique, I am sad I didn’t take a picture. The term I used to describe it was open-face but I’m not quite sure that’s right. The Salami and Ham sat atop the Sub Roll (from Bangor Rye!) and was topped with pickles. Inside the actual sub was all of the toppings: onions, peppers, tomato, etc.The prices were very cheap, and my sandwich tasted amazing. Honestly, I can’t tell you specifically why it tasted so good, but it tasted like something that had a lot of care put into it. I can tell those who work here probably enjoy and care a lot about what they do. I would highly recommend.

Not good food, order wrong...very disappointing! Sandwiches not as expected & no one in store when we walked in....had to yell for help! Ridiculous!

Freakin' delicious sammies! Great prices. The construction of them is interesting. Adding oodles of veggies made it impossible to close, so I made it an open faced sammie. Perfection!

Tons and tons of unique sandwiches. Bread was fresh the lady that makes the sandwiches is very nice. They carry good root beer for the win.The only catch is they make the cold cut subs like a lobster roll. So if you are a tourist don't be surprised that it isn't the run of the mill sub you are used to.

Once again, Yelpers, you helped me out in finding a great hoagie (ahem, sub) place. We got some subs for lunch while sitting in bliss at Schoodic Point in Acadia National Park again this week. The owner, Diane, thought she recognized us, but I told her she was mistaken. She then told us the short story of taking over the establishment which used to be next door run by a gentleman for upwards of 60 years. She kept his menu and added to it. Their subs are slightly different in that the meat is on top, and the fillers in the rolls. The wife picked out the #7 - Tourney Time Turkey which has veggies, American cheese, Turkey Chunks, Pepper (Green), and Pickles. I chose the #6 - Blu Ox Roast Beef which has the same toppings but also with Horseradish or Bleu Cheese. All the sandwiches I believe also have raw onions. However, since they are made to order, they can customize your sandwich to your liking. Diane also recommended some homemade macaroni salad or possibly the soup of the day, which today she called "Thanksgiving Leftovers." She said she just made it this morning, and had lots of turkey, potato, and other stuff (but not real leftovers!) We both went with that "soup." She also suggested the homemade croutons instead of crackers to go with it, and we also chose them. She threw in a baggies full of the croutons, and we were quickly on our way. We thankfully avoided the seagulls in Schoodic, and had the soup in the car as it was slightly raining. OMG, this was really a Thanksgiving Gumbo with a lot of flavor and pep. The homemade croutons threw it over the top. I could have just had a few more servings of this instead of the sub. After a couple hours overwatching the Schoodic version of Thunder Hole, we had our subs. My wife and I were a little surprised at the foot long rolls they came on as they had the consistency of being like a hot dog roll instead of what we're used to. The turkey chunks were plentiful and tasty. They are also made daily as they cook whole chickens and turkey breast to cut up for their foods. I could have used more meat and fillers on mine, but it was still quite good. And the seagulls got zip. So 5+ stars for the Thanksgiving Leftover Soup (Gumbo), and 4 for the subs. I'm rounding up due to the very friendly service and I always like to support local businesses when possible. I think there's a bazillion Subways in Maine, but only one The Legacy Sandwich. I'm going with The Legacy Sandwich. $30 for the two subs and two soups. Well worth it.

Stumbled upon The Legacy Sandwich on a drive through Bangor. Our sixth sense told us to stop, and we are so glad we heeded the call. Owner, Diane, met us when we arrived and gave us the rundown. It was raining out, and the warmth of the shop along with Diane’s welcoming manner immediately made us know we’d found a local treasure. We had the daily soup special along with sandwiches and a side of loaded macaroni salad (cooked perfectly al dente)! And of course we had to sample something from the bakery case, and the homemade chocolate cookies did not disappoint. Everything was very well prepared and really delicious (and very fairly priced!). It was obvious to me that all the homemade food at The Legacy has a healthy dose of love mixed in and that, to me, is a winning formula. Kudos, Diane! Gerry and I will definitely see you again on our next trip through Bangor!

1st time ordering today! Would eat here again. Only suggestion is to decrease some of the onion and buy a slicer so they are evenly cut. My husband bit into a great big huge piece and I literally removed 3/4 cup of onions from my wrap. Definitely too much!
