As advertised, it is a hut!But that is much of the charm of it.No one knows how to cook lobster better than these guys. That used to be pretty much all they served. They have expanded the menu. Service was a bit slow for not being full , but we loved it. And stay for the blueberry pie!The place was the site of a small scene with Paul Newman in HBOs Empire Falls. He was supposed to be in Florida!?!? See article and pictures by the dining room wash basin.

Exceptional food and service- lobster roll was perfect- lobsters were so fresh and tasty- desserts were another level, had the brownie deluxe and the blueberry cobbler ?- also the clam chowder soup is 100/100Very welcoming and friendly service, it’s a must eat place when in the area

Goodbye Nunan's! We have been traveling down to Kennebunk for almost 10 summers (except of course during covid ) with a large group of friends. Nunan's was a mandatory first night gathering place without exception; unfortunately now, the group consensus is to never return. Three separate families reported terrible service and I personally experienced unacceptable service twice this year alone. Our waitress was curt, rude and unreasonable. The same waitress was terrible earlier in the summer when I went down with a different group. She clearly made a mistake in our order, came back and blamed us and then charged us for her error! During this last visit, once she realized that we were three separate families and that the bills would span the table (covering 11 people, totaling 3 bills), she asked us to all get up and move our seats to sit as designated groups; she was not able to deal with bills otherwise. She then insisted that management would not allow her to take our orders otherwise if our families did not sit together. I have never heard of anything so ridiculous! Of course our kids wanted to sit at one end of the table with their friends and not with their parents (after a 5 hour drive the feeling was mutual lol)! Imagine if we were down with our full group which can be 15-20 people! Her negative attitude was completely unacceptable. Considering we dropped close to $800.00 in less than an hour, the service should be better. 2 lobsters and a bag of chips for close to 50 bucks with rude service is not happening again for us. Nunan's was wonderful while it lasted... Time for new traditions!

This spot is just a straight up tourist trap. It was recommended to us as the best spot for lobster but I've had better (and cheaper) lobster at chain steakhouses in the middle of the country. The lobster was mediocre, not sweet, and just tasted of water. It is served with the worst stale roll, 2 very sad looking pickle slices, and a bag of Lay's. The blueberry pie was alright but it wasn't even served warm. It was just so lackluster and unmemorable. We had much better lobster meals at others spots that this one is a definite skip. Even a local we spoke to nearby said she didn't care for it. Our server was rude. (There was one server who seemed very nice and engaging but sadly she wasn't assigned to our table.) Also beware there is NO A/C and on hot summer days, it's incredibly muggy. They are also cash only, though there is an ATM on site.

Drove a total of 10 hours over two days to be in Maine. On a very tired night while my husband tended to our exhauated, hungry, and crying 4 year old, I ventured out alone to this place in search of food for us.I went to Nunan's because it was the only place still open nearby where we were staying. When I arrived, the place was not busy and there were at least 5 empty tables to be seen. I waited patiently by the hostess stand and witnessed the elderly hostess speak shortly to the mid-50s couple before me and make them wait at the hostess stand. Then, I stepped forward and asked to do a takeout order. She said, "We had to stop doing that because we're busy." I was so hungry, so I said, "OK, how about I sit down by myself and eat something and maybe wrap up some other food for later." She shuffled her menus in her hand, turned and leaned toward me, and so rudely said, "NO. WE ARE BUSY." I've never been spoken to like that at a restaurant and I live in a busy, metropolitan area. No other restaurant was open and I had to go back to the place we were staying with minimal provisions I later found at a campground grocery store. She left a small family hungry that night and I think she deserves the karma she gets for how she acted.

My husband and I visited from TX and we wanted to eat our weight in lobster during our trip. We both enjoyed our lobster dinner here. The food is simple but good and the atmosphere is laid back. We had Laura as our server and she is a lot of fun! Thank you Laura!!
Had the special. 2-1 1/2 lobsters and steamed clams. Exactly what I expected. We loved the whole experience.

Went here for our first time, with hopes of a great evening on vacation with the decent reviews and thinking food and service would be great, with a small town setting. We were shortly proven wrong!We showed up at 7pm on a Saturday night, they got us set at a table after waiting only a short time in line. Hostess was very pleasant and friendly and welcoming. We were excited about trying out a new place.After being seated, a waitress walks by twice and says she'd be right over. Okay no problem. Brings us plates and silverware, as expected. We go to order...the waitress couldn't answer our question regarding their beer, to start. Kind of in a rude way in saying, "oh idk I've never heard it called that!" (Peak Organic Happy Hour) It was a new beer we had tried earlier in the day in Portland and LOVED it. On the menu it was stated "Peak Organic". We ordered anyways being hopeful it was what we wanted. We waited probably 15 minutes. She brought us our drinks and took our food order. No appetizers just 2 dinner meals.It wasn't what we wanted. One of us re ordered a new drink, as I had to get her attention that I needed a new drink as she walks by multiple times, not asking if it was correct in what we wanted. She come back shortly with the new drink.AN HOUR later our server brought us one of our meals (fresh lobster) and told us sorry your other meal will be a few more minutes as another waitress took it for another customer. (WHAT?!) At that very moment we knew we hadn't made a good choice to stop for dinner.Worst service I have ever experienced! Waitress walked by multiple times not once to ask how we were doing or that food was delayed or to ask if we needed another drink. Will NEVER go back!

I had a terrible dining experience here, despite the good reviews. Our waitress was so busy, she forgot to give us plates and disappeared for the night except to drop off food and collect the check.We ordered the 2 for $38 lobster special. I had just learned on my lobster tour today that soft shell lobsters are cheaper and much less desirable than hard shell lobsters, because the lobsters temporarily absorb a lot of seawater while they grow into their new shell. So we were given 2 soft shelled lobsters, which were completely overcooked. My mom gently pointed this out to the waitress, who completely gaslit her by saying “I’ve literally never had anyone say this to me, all the lobsters are cooked on a timer.”Could it be that hard and soft shell lobsters need to be cooked at different times? Regardless, you don’t speak to your customers like that. She was completely, 100% rude and fake. After that, she proceeds to talk to us in a sing-song voice as if that would make up for her inattentive service and the restaurant’s poor food quality. The clam chowder tasted like trash. I will mention that the shrimp cocktail and steamers were excellent.This experience gave me such a negative glimpse of Kennebunkport. As a person of color, you can’t help but wonder that these establishments treat you “different”. Additionally, Nunan’s only takes cash, which is ridiculous for dinner bills of $100+. I would also like to mention that I felt forced to leave a 18% tip because I didn’t want it to give the impression that “Asians don’t tip.”There are much better restaurants elsewhere in the neighborhood.
