Best Avocado toast I've ever had. Very kind people. Can't wait to come back to try the banana stew.

It's your local Burundi shop.I went back for the rice and extra side dishes that came along with the savory banana stew and they had taken it off the menu.Still a good dish, and he offered toasted homemade bread with olive oil. But, for 16.99 without the extra sides I personally wouldn't.

I had an oil change in the area and this was practically the only locally owned coffee shop close by (without trekking downtown or to the west end). What a gem! I got a mint mocha, egg & cheese sandwich, and one veggie sambousa. I’d never had a sambousa before and it was so yummy! Very much a community feel in the cafe with people meeting to chat or grab a morning coffee before going to work. I also bought some of their bulk beans which I’m excited to try at home. They had wifi too!

Small and local venue offers delicious coffee and food. Complex and smooth flavors are the results from great beans and proper preparation. Staff is friendly and helpful. Check it out ?

Stopped in for the first time this morning and ordered an Americano and a full order of avocado toast with egg. Both were really good. Americano had nice citrus and Cocoa notes. The avocado toast was excellent. Nice thick, hearty bread and, good avocado mash flavors. Staff was attentive, quick and very pleasant. Will definitely be back.

I first came to Burundi Star Coffee during the pandemic, not long after it opened. I made it a personal mission to support the cafe and introduce it to family and friends and now visit every time I return home to Maine - it’s my first stop after flying in to Portland Jetport! I am so happy that it is open and thriving with many fans. The coffee is seriously good and strong - maybe the best in town - and I’ve had it both hot and iced. The sambousas are yummy snacks, the merchandise is cool, and the service is warm and friendly. Scoop up a free copy of Ajambo Africa, a local multilingual community newspaper, purchase some coffee beans to go for your friends, and maybe get yourself a baseball hat to show Burundi Star Coffee love. I proudly wear my hat in NYC!

The best coffee we’ve ever had. The drip coffee is a toasty flavor, almost creamy! Must try. Also so incredibly nice.

I challenge you to find a better avocado toast in Portland! So good, on thick fresh bread and loaded with avocado. The New Frozen Peppermint Mocha Latte will bring me back as well.

Had such a great experience here! The owner, Jocelyne, is very sweet! Her story is amazing as well. The sambousa, is crisp on the outside and the beef filling is perfectly spiced! The avocado toast is superb! The bread is crunchy and soft... so good! The avocado has a little kick, but not too much. Generous amount too! I ordered the iced chai latte and my sister got the hot. I know it's not coffee, but I am going to bring a bag home! All of the beans are sourced by the owners family in Burundi! I am excited to try! It's the perfect environment to sit and work on a laptop with good light and low relaxing music playing. I will definitely be back!
