don't go here at meal time. You might want to eat all the samples on site. You'll want to save space for the loot that you bring home. Also plenty of items that can decorate your home from whimscical to tourit-y to Maine-centric.
I love cheese, therefore I love Cabot :) I am lactose intolerant, therefore i LOVE the aged Cheddar! Naturally Lactose Free!! Hooooorraaaay! I had been buying Cabot cheese from grocery stores for YEARs...and I am not sure why I never stopped at the Cabot Farmers' Annex. I don't usually wander in this part of the old port, unless I am pretending to be a tour guide for friends or family visiting from out of state. When I have walked by, this place always had a steady flow of people going in and out of the store and there was always a crowd near the front window, which I didn't understand until I went in. When you walk into the shop, there is a rectangle table....filled with at least 12 different types of cheeses to try! WOW - that's amazing, you can truly try before you buy. I am able to easily pick out the sharp cheddar that is creamery cheddar and avoid the gritty/nutty flavors - per my personal preference. However, if you are hosting a party, there is a variety for everyone to choose from. After you finish sampling head to the back of the store, where the refrigerators are located with ALL the cheese :) ok, they are more than just cheese! They have delicious locally made pickles, they have a variety of sweet treats/candies to bring home. There are crackers and souvenirs as well. The staff keeps busy and will help if asked. They move people efficiently through the cash out process. I highly recommend this location as a "cheese" stop or snack stop :)
