Such a cool spot if I could I'd give everything 6 stars. Oh and as excellent as the tacos were the key lime pie was what made it for me.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stop at El Rayo. The carnitas taco was delicious, the tequila list was the best we’ve seen in Portland. Kate was a pleasure and would definitely recommend for any tequila or taco lover.

I want to give it 4.5 stars. It was overall pretty good. Felt like the burrito was missing something. It was still very good. Great place. We had nice weather in February and got to sit outside. Great spot.

We stopped in here to grab tacos and margaritas before the beer festival and the tacos were amazing! Absolutely delicious and filling. We both had beef tacos ? but our friends tried the shrimp and chicken and all of them were raving about how good they were. We also got margaritas ? they were great too. Good spot to order at the counter and sit outside for a bite.

honestly, the food is not worth the high price tag. got their february special chicharrone burrito, and it was $15 for mostly rice. the chicharrone wasn't great either.

Delicious food! I am plantbased and after asking for a few dairy omissions, found really great mega flavorful options! The yucca fries were the bomb and my seta mushroom tacos and fried avacado tacos were so yummy!! The spot is colorful and funky and the service was pretty quick. Can't wait to go back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at this Mexican restaurant. The menu is extensive, featuring a long list of daily specials. Upon entering, you place your order at the counter, and there's seating available at both the bar and tables. We chose seats at the bar, where the bartender was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Although we encountered a minor setback with the fried yucca balls being cold on the inside (leading to the 4 ⭐️ rating), the overall experience was great. We also tried the fried chicken quesadilla, which came in a generous portion. The grilled steak quesadilla, though much smaller, was equally delightful. Both were accompanied by chips and pico de gallo salsa. We highly recommend trying the chimichurri aioli – a perfect complement to the quesadilla. Despite the minor hiccup, we look forward to returning to explore more items on the menu!
Love the downtown Portland location!! Scarborough location is great too, but the downtown one has a cute bar, great staff and amazing outdoor patio. We had an early lunch with our Two picky eater kids and they devoured the kids rice, beans and cheese burrito (perfect size) and chips and quac. I had the fiesta salad with pork (YUM) and my husband had a gluten free special bowl. Everyone’s meal was great!

Great little place. We found it by accident as we were walking around the area thinking about dinner. We ordered one of the November special burritos, it was vegetarian and had squash in it. It was fantastic. My partner is not much for Mexican food. But they were willing to give it a shot. We were both so happy we took the chance. The service was speedy. We did take out. But while waiting we noticed that we could actually talk to each other!! When we got back to our place, we noticed our bag included a small portion of chips and salsa (did not pay extra for these). Just enough chips to slip and the salsa was great. Didn't overdo the chips so we each really enjoyed the burrito. Total winner!! Even convinced my partner that if we could find more Mexican like this we'd have it more often!
