Born and raised in Philly. In fact, my family owned and operated a pizza place/ steak sandwich shop in Juniata Park, a working class neighborhood in Philly. This is what I did until I went away to college. The Five Spot is the ONLY authentic steak sandwich in Portland Maine and it's really, really damn good!
I have lived in Maine for 20 years, but I am from Pennsylvania. When I get back to PA I always get the subs and hoagies there because they are actually subs and hoagies. The Maine Italian sandwich just doesn't cut it. If you're looking for a real hoagies or subs with friendly service and wants to conjure up a new craving, go here!

I have had Cubans in Miami Italian beef's in Chicago tenderloin in Iowa pulled pork in Georgia. So I know a good sandwich. Every time I go to Portland I make a trip to this place. Got to hand it to this place top notch cheese steak.
