It was my first time eating there and their digital menu was down and the staff wasn't knowledgeable about what they offer since I knew what the online menu offered. It's suppose to be a Christian base restaurant and I didn't feel like the establishment held up to their name.

Extremely disappointed ☹️. Just moved to the area and my family and I love local mom and pop restaurants. Nowhere online did this say it wasn't a dine in restaurant!! It needs to be listed . Got there and its more of a catering place and take out. Not setup for dine in.

So, being honest.... the service was fine and the food is ok. I went for the perch dinner multiple reviews talk about. But they only had 1 piece of perch available. So, I ended up with that piece of fish and a piece of catfish. Along with greens, Mac n cheese, and a separate side of black-eyed peas. I spent just over 20 dollars. And I was charged an additional .25 cents for tartar sauce, even though I was purchasing a fish meal. Like, huh, shouldn't at least one sauce come with it.... anyway, was it worth it?.... Meh. The fish was well seasoned, but the sides were nothing to write home about. And the free piece of famous corn bread you get with your meal... is a joke. Seriously, that was so tiny. Honestly, after tasting it, you dont mind that it's small because you dont want to eat it. It was dense and flavorless. I was hungry, the food satisfied that but I probably won't be going back.

Unfortunately, my experience today was awful. I love supporting black own small businesses and wanted to do that. That being said the food portions, quality, taste and flavor don't match the cost. Unfortunately, my review isn't to tear them apart but make them aware that the quality wasn't present and not to my liking. After spending $51 for 3 meals it could have used more flavor and love. We threw away $51 dollars in the trash, it was so disappointing. I can't say that I'll be back but, I hope they're listen to the constructive criticism.

Absolutely delish! We split the 2 meat and 2 sides entree for $13.99. I got meatloaf and mac & cheese and my hubs got the smothered pork chop with cabbage. The Mac&Cheese was so good! The pork chop was a bit grissly/fatty, but it has amazing flavor from the light breading and gravy. The meatloaf was very good as well. I’m not a fan of cornbread that’s sweet -but no biggie, I ate it as dessert! I can’t wait to return and try more items!

I was in town visiting family and i google soul food and The candid Yam pop up cause i was in Kentwood. The pictures online look good so i went and tried them out. I ordered 3 plates. I ordered a fried chicken plate, Pork chop plate and a rib plate. Everything was good except the Rib plate which was the nastiness ribs i ever tasted. The sauce was good but the rib tasted like rubber. I ask the lady where the rib smoked and she said yes but no smoke flavor at all. I would visit this establishment again when visiting, they had pretty good food but i had to throw it out there about the Ribs.

I'm changing my review at first I liked this place after 6 or seven months of patronizing this place..The quality and amount of food that I'm now receiving from this place is totally not acceptable.Things should get better not worse..I know with different employees things can change when it come to quality and quantity.I think Candied Yam should work on consistency with their food as far as taste and the amount a person received when ordering the same thing..The taste and quality shouldn't change every time a person come to buy food.I asked for corn bread and I received a 2 inch piece of corn bread SMH..They also have a point reward program I think if you get enough points you can receive something..I asked the employees about the program and they didn't know anything, They never mentioned the program when people are ordering food I stood there and watched..I've purchased food for 6 of 7 months and was never told about a reward program I think they should remove it ..Dietary restrictions: Can't fine any information pertaining to this topic
