Great little restaurant on James Street. Friendly staff (although short staffed) kind and courteous A++ atmosphere. Had the nachos for appetizers which were delicious. 10 outta 10. Might have to wait a little bit, but so worth it. Casual wear or fancy dress up. Either or ...
Had the Blake's Blackberry Lemonade to drink...so goodThe Salmon dinner was delicious with rice and green beans, the other meal was the Lake Perch Dinner....really good. The also had a Peach Cider that was delicious as well. 4.8 points...yay!!!The Lemonade...Cider....we got a Growler for home and 2 Tshirts...great place....Staff and Bartenders were awesomeA definite return is in order...!!!
Great service. Perch and Reuben sandwiches worth having. Beer had a great batting average. Bock, dry stout were standouts.
We stopped in for lunch and thought the atmosphere was fun and loved the unique decor. Our waitress was pleasant. My husband and I both ordered one of the Michigan cherry and pecan specials. Mine was a salad and his was a wrap. When my salad came it didn’t have any pecans. I asked the waitress about that and she said oh I think we are out so she went back to check and said yes we are out but brought a big clump of candied walnuts. I managed to break them apart and put them in my salad and it was good but after I realized I didn’t have any my husband realized his wrap did not have any either. She didn’t offer anything to him. We both probably would have ordered something different if we had realized that our dishes wouldn’t have the pecans that were in the name. I enjoyed my salad with walnuts but I don’t really understand why they let us order them and didn’t at least tell us that they didn’t have pecans and let us make either a choice of a different dish or to substitute the walnuts right up front. My son had one of their burgers and he very much enjoyed it. The french fries were delicious. The salsa didn’t really have much flavor but it wasn’t bad. I would go there again but I would check about the pecans first ?
Got the Sweet Chili Aioli burger with fries and my wife got a build-your-own burger with onion rings. Also got a chocolate sundae and carrot cake for dessert and a flight of beers. The food was very good. All the beers were awesome and at a GREAT price. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Would definitely recommend.
Sat out on the deck. They even asked if we wanted "sun" or "shade" and noted we'd have a short wait for shade which was fine with us - and we barely got our drinks before table was ready. Very relaxing and enjoyed the Kolsch -- perfect beer for sitting out on the patio on a warm day. 2 perch fish fries were perfectly done -- breading not overly heavy or light. Very generous side salads served chopped, almost cobb style. Service was pleasant and efficient.
This place was recommended to me by more than one person but I was not impressed. All the food we ordered was mediocre at best. The nachos had barely any meat on them. The huge outside space is a nice atmosphere to chill and dine at though. And it seemed very kid friendly!
Large menu, of beer and food including lots with Michigan cherries. Indoor and outdoor space, seems well staffed which is unusual for now adays
We found this place when we just needed a easy place for dinner. The cheese soup was fantastic. The service was great and the atmosphere was really nice. Clearly a popular place with locals on a weeknight.
JBC has been a family favorite for years. Sadly, lately it just hasn’t been the same. We really miss some of the old standby apps on the appetizer menu, especially the cheese fries. They were SO good! We also wish there were a few more gluten free options (Maybe just a GF bun option? Something other than salad...) for those with such dietary needs. The service here has always been top notch, and so has the beer, but lately the menu is disappointing for our family.
We came for dinner and was pleasantly surprised to have a trio playing music. We were seated in a booth , Alex our waiter came to take our drink order very quickly. Later we ordered our meals, Fish &chips .We were served our meals in a short amount of time. Alex had suggested the Fish & Chips and he was right on point! The fish & chips was the best we have had in long time ! ! The prices we with in reason. Staff was friendly and very helpful.. Alex was an excellent and very knowledgable waiter!! We shell return again... Thanks for a nice evening !
OK first thing, this place was spot on for at least ten years. This was always our go to spot for reliable service and food quality. That being said they have redone the menu and taken our favorites off (the Crabby Onion was wonderful). Second problem, service was slow and inattentive. Third, orders came out wrong. Fourth, bill was totally incorrect. I am totally understanding of difficulties with staff these days but this was totally out of character for them. Hopefully it was an anomaly.
Greeted warmly and quickly by the hostess, Dawn. Clearly seasoned in efficient leadership as well as hospitality. Matt, the waiter, reminded me of the wonderful warm adult children I raised. (I miss them- but I get it. I try to at least.) Somehow, he got all of his work done, while empowering me as an ‘aged’ woman. For the brief time I was there, I felt like I was home. No pressure, no pick up lines. Just me, my ‘puter, and my sunset life ahead. My only complaint (that I dare speak) is about the food. ? Sooo many choices- and all too delish!water was cold a d clear.* Meh… Local photos and a nice paint job made the ambience acceptable. Would love to see the art work from the painters as well.
The reviews for this place are decent. But it did not impress. The French dip sandwich was really dried out and the beef clearly came from some sort of supply company and was not made here. The jumbo pretzel on the appetizer menu is not locally made but rather the same type of pretzel you would get at a baseball game concession stand. I had a turkey and goat cheese sandwich and while it was OK it definitely lacked flavor. The building is beautiful and the service was good. Maybe they have better offerings but unfortunately our food experience was not great.
The food was good. But our waitress Mindy was GOLD! She knew the menu and beers and her suggestions on both were spot on. This is the kind of employee who brings back customers and we'll be returning to see her smiling face again.
