This place keeps getting worse… 2 stars now. They had lunch specials a couple years ago for $9-10. Those are now $15. The biggest crime is the combo price went from $4 to $7! So if you get a pop and little cup a soup add $7.Look I know prices went up everywhere but this all happened after new owners came in. Feels like they are just trying to squeeze as much money from you as possible now. A Turkey Reuben, pop, fries and the same for my wife is $38!!! Really?!?!I’m sure the owners will say it’s food prices going up everywhere but come on. $7 for a pop and little cup of soup is insane for a diner.It’s just greedy for your local diner. We won’t be returning and we used to go about 20-30 times a year.5 stars is now 4. The business was sold and they have lost a bit of what we loved. We live around the corner and had been about 40 times prior to sale and 10 times post sale. -- Staff is good but not as friendly overall.- inconsistent meals and service. Sometimes they check on you 20 times and sometimes never.- The turkey Reuben (Marcy) now is deli meat instead of a carved actual turkey- My Reuben bread arrived soggy (had it 20 times before and never happened)- The burger special for lunch is the thinnest patty possible (see pic). That cost me $10Still a good place but it used it be a 5/5 amazing with the incredible staff. I can sense the corner cutting and I’m worried it will get worse.

What a hidden gem! Great diner for breakfast in Royal Oak area. Banana Pecan Waffle was amazing. The candied pecans made a big difference. We also had Corned Beef Hash, pancakes, bacon, plus much more. Portions are huge. You cannot walk away hungry. Hot, fresh coffee, and excellent, friendly service. We can see why the Oak Diner is so poplar. DoorDash delivers! Nostalgic setting, loved the decor. Daily specials and loved the joke of the day board. Counter sitting or dining area. Will be back to try lunch one day.
Great food and lots of it. Staff takes real good care of you. Will be going back.
