We have went here many times but I haven’t went in awhile. The service was very good. My son had spaghetti and meatballs which he said was very good.My wife had a small pasta plate with a salad.I had the pork chop with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The pork chop was very well seasoned and very good. The potatoes were okay, nothing special. The asparagus was very soft and a bit mushy; I was not a fan. Before the meal, they serve bread which is excellent. The bread used to come with olive oil that you could dip it in. Now the bread just comes with butter. I miss the olive oil touch. The meal was good but it could have been better if the asparagus was cooked different and the bread was served with olive oil.
The calamari was the best we ever had, huge portion!
Server never checked back to see if food was satisfactory or to offer drink refills. Meatball sandwich was dry and needed more sauce or provolone cheese. Meatballs were flavorful and huge. No dessert offered. Single older lady was very disappointed in $20 lunch after hoping for a nice lunch experience.Food: 3/5
I never write reviews- BUT We arrived before the lunch hour. It took about 45 minutes to get our food then they brought our niece the wrong meal. It took us about 25 minutes to eat, during which she watched us eat because her correct food never came. Our water was never refilled so we ate without anything to drink. We went to the front to pay & cancel the food that never showed up. As we walked away our waiter ran after us to accuse us of not paying. It was just a really awful experience without any real customer service. Sad because I use to like this restaurant.
The restaurant was very busy and had a wait during lunchtime on a weekday, so that is a good sign. We had a drink at the bar while we waited to be seated. Our server was absolutely the greatest. I special requested the salad to have spinach in place of the mixture that is typically used. She couldn't promise that they'd do it, but she made it happen! My group had the roast beef sandwich, tortellini, and a huge salad. Every single thing we were served was flavorful and perfect. I'd encourage you to visit this local Jefferson City restaurant.
Worse meal I've had at Madisons since I've lived here. My wife's chicken was cold, food had no seasoning. The walls had food stains on them and our chairs felt like they were going to break while sitting on them. The decor is horrendous and needs to be updated terribly bad. Place just looks old and dirty. Can the owner look anymore like a homeless person. Walks around in a daze, shirt tail out and just looks homeless. Again food had no seasoning, cold, and taste old. Can't eat that food for that money anymore. NO STARS. one thing great... Melanie was a fantastic waitress though.
The owner of Madison's was very helpful in arranging the rehearsal dinner on August 12, 2022. He emailed me the menus, discussed the options and prices. Somebody had school him very well. Big Whiskeys didn't have a room big enough and the wine place across the river didn't ever call me back. The service was outstanding.
Our service was great, as was the food. The one thing missing from our experience was the olive oil that used to be a staple of the restaurant with the bread. When we requested it, we were told there was no way to get it. Please bring it back!
My husband and I just dined in Madison Cafe and were amazed how great everything was. Regrettably, we reside in Jefferson City for nine years without ever dining at Madison Cafe. We wish we had gone there sooner because the food, staff, and prices are really great. We will return to M.C. real soon.
We had very good meals and excellent customer service! Sarah was our server and gave us great ideas and comments regarding their menu! The Prime rib and Julia ( pasta, shrimp and scallops) were very good meals and very large portions!
This spot really, really came in clutch for us on a short stay in Jeff City. Great service, a nice meal, and an overall five-star vibe. Amtrak cost us our original destination with an insane delay, so we were found ourselves calling an audible and staying in Jeff City near the Katy Trail to salvage our annual bikepacking trip. We stared down two options: curse Amtrak for completely throwing a wrench in our adventure, or make the most of it. Thankfully we opted for the latter, and Madison's Cafe was a key part in turning things around! Our last bike trip stay in Jeff City was pretty meh, surrounded by massive thunderstorms and not a lot of opportunity to explore. This time around was different, and the whole main street area around Madison's was great, especially with a summer cold front blowing through. The patio was where it was at on this Friday night, and from hostess to server (and surrounding patrons), we were treated well. We chowed down on: -Complimentary fresh baguette and butter -Starter salads & mozzarella sticks -Some sort of creamy pasta with broccoli and mushrooms It was all very tasty, and again, the vibes were on point. We really started coming around on Jefferson City and our surprise detour at this point. We were absolutely loaded up on food, perfect for our full day of riding the following day. We lightly cruised around the area after, seeing the capital building and all the folks out on a late summer night. If I'm in Jefferson City again, Madison's is now in the "must-visit" category!
Katherine is one of the most attentive servers I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. She took time to check on me (eating alone) to ensure my meal was perfect. Thank you so much Katherine, and Madison’s. This is my go to place at the State Capital!!!!!
Bread in a basket initially served was cold, rubbery and tasteless. Ordered a cheeseburger; it was burnt, couldn’t taste the burger, only a char. Bathroom was dirty. A worker used it just ahead of me and didn’t wash their hands, gross! The have small tea glasses, wasn’t asked if I needed a refill or if anything else. Nothing good or special to say about the place. I would not recommend to eat here. You can get better for the price.
We had a very delicious and nice lunch! Both of these dishes were new to me and so good! I highly recommend you try it!
Ate here once and can't stop going back. The food is the best and their service is fantastic. My advice is to go here and enjoy, just go really hungry as the portions are huge but it's so good you won't want to stop eating!
