We had a group of four before the pentatonix concert last night. We arrived at 430 and from start to finish it was absolutely perfect. Andy was our server and made sure that all was absolutely what we wanted and the timing of each meal was amazing. My brother was visiting from New York and said that his filet meats as the best he had ever had!! Always a first class experience at 801!!
Zach R. delivered an exceptional dining experience marked by professionalism, efficiency, and genuine hospitality. From the moment we sat down, he demonstrated a strong command of the menu, offered thoughtful recommendations, and anticipated our needs without ever being intrusive. His service cadence was seamless, and the level of care he provided elevated the entire experience. Quality service like this is rare, and Zach exceeded expectations at every touchpoint. We will absolutely request him again on our next visit. Highly recommended. Corey & Kissie
This is a beautiful restaurant in the traditional chop house style, with fabulous bar and wait staff and a lovely ambience. Unfortunately, it is GREATLY overpriced, which mars the whole experience somewhat. We have eaten at the best restaurants in London, New York, and even on Little Palm Island (Florida) for significantly less than we paid here. $150 for three king crab legs and $100 for a shellfish pan roast comprising a small portion of lobster tail, one jumbo shrimp, two sea scallops, one mussel, and a small piece of king crab! Almost $600 including tax and tip by the time we had a couple of glasses of Chablis each and two appetizers. The crab legs were cooked well, though, not overdone, as can be an issue. Unfortunately, the side dishes were also not to our liking. Both the hash browns and the scalloped potatoes were too greasy and over-salted. And although you can get one or two decent wines by the glass at around $20 each, if you want a bottle of anything nice, it starts at $150 and goes into the thousands. And this is Kansas City! Maybe everyone here is on an NFL salary - LOL. We tend to not eat meat, so perhaps this was our error. It might be better for steak eaters, as their prime rib, at $70, costs less than half the price of the crab legs.
We were there to celebrate my birthday. Even so, I wanted my husband to have a special experience. As I am a vegan, I indicated my preferences via Open Table as to if they could accommodate me. They never responded. I took a chance and we showed up on time and were seated promptly. Three different menus were presented to us/me: an anniversary menu, a birthday menu and when I told the waiter that I had a pre-ordered vegan meal, he had to check with the chef to see if indeed there was a pre-ordered meal. He returned to say that the chef would exclude the Ahi tuna from an entree to make it vegan. It included white rice, 3 asparagus tips, and an one ounce Seaweed Salad. While I loved the veggies, I was quite disappointed. I don't know the exact cost of my entree. The total bill including with my meal, my sparkling water, my husband's 6 oz filet mignon, Caesar salad, and 1 pound potato came to $135 after taxes. While the service and ambiance were great. The cost seem a bit excessive. My "bad" for assuming that a non-response regarding my special request would be accommodated.
Meat display by wait staff was nice. Pork chop and filet tasty. Servings were large. Autumn salad and pumpkin cheescake were superb. Was told about special pricing for a 3 course meal on Sundays. If we come back, I would consider that as this place is pricey.
Restaurant has a peculiar odor that was a little off putting. Chose restaurant to celebrate birthday. Ordered rib eye, fillet, single crab cake, and lobster mac with tip spent $275. Very surprised that restaurant did not offer free dessert alternative for celebration. Dessert options were not appealing but wanted celebration experience. Suggested they could have provided a ramekin with whipped cream and a candle on the happy birthday plate. Experience is equally as important as food which is why my rating was not higher. I'm at not likely to return
I have eaten there several times with venders and friends spending lots of money- The last 2 visits the steak has been so undercooked it was disgusting. last time my wife had to send her steak back 4 times just too able to eat it. This time I ordered medium well on my bone in filet it was completely raw I would say less cooked then rare I did not send it because I did not want to embarrass my wife in front of our friends. Our bill was close to $800.00, and this was not a good experience for us. Not sure what to say maybe they think people like to eat raw meat.
I took my 8-year old granddaughter to dinner after seeing Beauty and the Beast at Music Hall. Our waiter was very attentive and the food was delicious. This is a yearly event to celebrate my granddaughter's birthday. She already can tell the waiter how she would like her steak cooked!
Food was just ok steak wasn't cooked to my satisfaction but the waiter was good and very friendly
Beautiful restaurant. Service was excellent and the food was incredible. I had a Kansas City Strip and my wife had the lamb chops. Both were perfectly seasoned and tender. Huge selection of wines and liquors.

Excellent server who enjoys working and had a great sense of humor! Manhatten cocktails were fabulous. Fillet was perfectly cooked. We were on a quest to find a truly rare cooked steak ( so many places overcook) Our waiter communicated that to the chef, and we so enjoyed a delicious steak. Highly recommend!
The noise level was terrible. We asked to be moved so we were then seated close to the door where it was very cold. We asked to move again and were told there were no open tables when we saw many remain empty throughout the duration of pour meal. I found the hostesses rude. Our server was very nice. I will never return and our tab was $400.
Another outstanding meal at the Chophouse. Everything was absolutely perfect. Service was incredible and the food even better. The special pricing on the Chev Pinot was an amazing value. Cannot wait for our next trip to KC!!!
Overall we had great service, but our prime rib was very disappointing. The seasoning wasn't even so every bite switched between overly salty and seasoned to nothing at all. Overall the prime rib was cooked well, but aside from the crust there wasn't much flavor.
Cocktails are so good, they have new cocktail menu and we tried a few and they were all delicious! Steaks, potatoes and broccolini were also excellent!
