Wow, I can't believe Bluestem is closed :.( My boyfriend took me here for our 1 year anniversary in August and I was looking forward to coming back this year to celebrate my birthday too. This place was incredible. From the customer service to their food. They were very sweet and helped us navigate the menu for gluten free options, since I have a gluten intolerance. I will miss this place so much. I'm glad that I was able to experience Bluestem and I will treasure the memories from it always.

I am a KC native but have been living in PHX,AZ for the last few years. I recently was back in town celebrating a family member's wedding and we took the couple here to celebrate a few nights before. Because of COVID, they were serving their menu with more of an a la cart process. This was perfect because it gave everyone in our party a chance to get exactly what they wanted. We definitely passed all the dishes around a bit and everything was exceptional. The service is top-notch and is overall an amazing experience.

We got the fried green tomatoes which were fantastic and we loved the pureed sauce. The small plate we got was lamb ragu and that stole the show- it was creamy, flavorful, and had a bit of spice. For the large plate, we got the filet which was cooked perfectly with delicious balsamic vinegar asparagus.

We went with friends to Kansas City to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary and this was one of their top selections for a special dinner. We are so glad they suggested it. Bluestem has 2 seatings - 5 o'clock and 8 o'clock I believe. You can arrive anytime you state on your reservation BUT the 5 o'clock group has to be done by 8 o'clock so you want to allow enough time to really enjoy the meal. The entire table has to agree on how many courses you want - 3, 5 or 7 with a set price for the number of courses you want. We chose 5 and I am really happy we did. You then each get to choose the 5 things that you want to eat. One of us doesn't like seafood so he got 2 starters plus the steak instead of 2 main entrees and was very happy with that. They also bring several additional little items to eat in between courses and they were divine. I wish that we'd had a few different selections for the main course but otherwise the variety was excellent. We had superb service all night as they all seem to pitch in and assist one another. The presentation for all courses was wonderful. It really was a very special and memorable evening. We will definitely be back.

Excellent, it was a culinary show, and the food was very well flavored in a number of ways. The desert included beer flavored ice cream which was delicious. The tasting style service was small in portions but there were seven courses, so you definitely got enough to eat! Will definitely be back!

What a treat! I've been wanting to experience Bluestem for years. The food, presentation, paring, and experience is unsurpassed in all the KC area, possibly the entire midwest. What an amazing experience. We had a four course meal with suggested wine paring for each course. Every dish was impeccably presented, timed perfectly, paired deliciously. If your looking for fine cuisine, this is your place. However, if you are simply looking for a fantastic single course meal and drink, Bluestem is really quite affordable. I would give this place the best possible recommendation I can give!

I ate here 2 years ago with my mom and had one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. Since then I've been able to go to a few Michelin star restaurants and the food at Bluestem is on par with those places, if not better. The drinks at the bar are phenomenal. The atmosphere is romantic and cozy. I can't wait to return and have another meal here.

My husband and I went to Bluestem for the first time and were blown away by their food. Everything tasted amazing. We got the fried green tomatoes, lamb ragu, and filet. The filet was cooked medium rare and was so tender. Everything was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. Our service was great. I can't wait to come back and try more.

We're new to KC and tried this restaurant and fell in love.They weren't doing the 3, 5, or 7 course meals b/c covid so we ordered an app, small plate, large plate, and desert to share which ended up being similar.We got the fried green tomatoes which were fantastic and we loved the pureed sauce.
