Good price and great soda selection
Great vibe and ice cream.. Every pop flavor you could think of
Lazy staff, not impressive
I came in around 5pm with my family. There was no line but a few people were still sitting around eating ice cream. The store was open for another hour so there was plenty of time to order, but the guy at the counter was not very friendly. My son has ASD and learning disabilities so it often takes him a long time to make decisions. For this reason he is often last to order, as he was on this occasion. He wanted the Unicorn Float but they were out of rainbow sherbet. He tried a sample of the Dr. Pepper. Then he asked for a sample of the Blue Monster but the guy behind the counter told him no, that we had reached our sample limit. I would understand if it was the middle of a busy time on a Saturday but this was at 5pm Monday, there was nobody in line, they were going to be open plenty late, and my son had figure out something else to try because they were out of his first option. It’s just not very accommodating. As a business owner myself, I understand the need to have boundaries with customers. But this was just plain old poor customer service.

My hopes were high for this place. I’m my family and I love getting ice cream together and we are walking distance. I would like preface it was a Sunday, and the whole market was packed.
Upon entering Fountain city scoops there was a line all the way to the entrance. The shop is pretty cramped as is, so a full line is roughly 10-15 people. We waited 15 minutes in line before getting to the front which was no big deal. We noticed a “used sample spoons” cup on the top and we were excited to know they did samples because they carry interesting flavors. Example: “Blue monster” and “Oatmeal Cream Pie.” Both of which I’ve never tried in my life, so I simply asked for a sample. If you’re reading this, do you know what blue monster would taste like?
The gentlemen at the counter said, “not with the line.” 😳Now this place as you could imagine sells, floats, milkshakes, and ice cream. I waited in the same line as everyone else and watched others order extremely complex drinks that required blending or filling with soda etc, I just wanted a cone and asked for a sample, and was told I was asking “too much” because of a line and him working on his own. I’d expect that from a young person just getting started in service, but this was a grown man who presumably owns or manages. This is a brand new place, where many impressions are being made, they sadly had one person working, and because they were unprepared, I wasn’t able to have a “real fountain city scoops experience.”
We understand wanting to be courteous to those waiting in line, and we paid the same courtesy to the ones before us. A greeting and a thank you for the patience to those waiting in line can go a long way with customer patience (I work in retail).
So with that, we left sadly. We will not return unless somehow we hear they’ve improved. Really hope they figure it out. Go at your own risk, the establishment doesn’t value the customer enough.

The scoops are big and the ice cream delicious. Don’t let the cost deter you “treat yaself!” My son got the blue monster and i got the blackberry cobbler, we both loved the flavor we got! It was the perfect dessert after lunch at Habashi!

What a fun idea for a sweet snack! They have an awesome menu of ice cream floats they have concocted themselves or you can pick out exactly what you want. Super yummy and would definitely go back!

To die for!
Came here from a hot day at the zoo.
The floats are amazing. Great value at under $5 for two scoops.
I had a root beer float with oatmeal cream ice cream. Homemade vanilla had run out.
Friend had one of their signature floats.
Mine was perfect. Her's was perfect for her but too sweet for me.
I very nearly went straight back in and got another ... but I stopped myself. Just!

I had trouble fighting a root beer float craving; Fountain City Scoops & Floats tamed it slightly. There is something about local ingredients that makes your day just a little better! The store doesn't entirely embrace the neighborly ice cream shop service, but one thing I do know: your troubles melt away like ice cream in a root beer.
