Monarch gives that 1940's metropolitan drug store cafe vibe. The type of place where the urban dweller sauntered in for an egg salad sandwich and a cherry phosphate and read the newspaper. While Monarch has the look of authenticity it doesn't make me feel like I want to stick around - it's more cold than warm in it's welcoming vibe. 3.5 Stars--- the cutest coffee shop in Kansas City, but the Sweet Potato Latte was just not my thing. Just my personal preference though, because I've heard it is a popular drink! This place was pretty full on a Wednesday morning, but still makes a great place to study or catch up with a friend. Modern design, super aesthetic, and very instagrammable.

Came in on a Friday morning, and they had a nice crowd of people . When looking at the menu they don't have a huge selection of drinks, but what they do have they do super well. I got a chocolate croissant and malted milk latte. Now, they do seem to take their craft seriously... so if you want a fast turnaround this isn't the place for you. I waited about 10-15 mins, BUT it was worth the wait for my latte. I mean look at it! So pretty and baby the espresso was doing it's thing....read full review
