The woman that runs this place needs to either quit or go to therapy. I can’t even begin to explain the experience we had had last night. Food was okay ish…. But the atmosphere this woman put off was literally insane! Nothing worse than dining with a narcissist yelling at customers in the background. I feel so bad for the kids that work here. It’s worse than a Chinese sweat shop. “FASTA FASTA!!!” I felt like I needed a xanex to recover from what I saw. But in reality, we just laughed and made a snowman from the extra wasabi. The lady didn’t think it was funny.

Bonzai is a great spot to get some amazing food! The owners treat their workers like family. The sushi is always top notch. I’ve loved all the food I’ve tried there. Kristen is super sweet with a great sense of humor. The service is some of the best in kirksville. I highly recommend going here for a nice meal. If you don’t like sushi the other food is great too!
Food is great, atmosphere is great, but the owner is somewhat snobby and kind of the "head up his @$$" stuck in his ways type. Will continue to eat there until he upsets me a second time, then I'll change to 1 star and boycott ?

Every time I walk through the door of Bonzai I am instantly at ease. I know I’ll receive excellent service and am destined to enjoy an amazing meal. The owners work hard, and make sure their patrons are taken care of. Great atmosphere and one of the busiest restaurants in kirksville! Printed sign on the door says they're open 5:15-8.I walk in the door at 7:30. Wait at the hoat stand for a couple minutes. Host comes from behind the bar and asks if I have take-out. I tell him I do not, they said they're takeout only.There were maybe 4 tables sat inside. I ask if I can eat at the table and gesture toward the people eating inside. I was told they're to-go only after 7:30.It was literally 7:33 when I pointed it out to the guy.Frustrating policy anyway, but especially since it wasn't posted anywhere, and I walked in the door in time to be seated....the guy was just rude....they won't get another chance for my money

So… I drove out of my way to go here and I told them that.. the woman owner was yelling at me about how the menu says NO SUBSTITUTES… they wouldn’t accommodate with substituting out green onions instead of wasabi and ginger.. they wouldn’t substitute more veggies instead of chicken (I’m a vegetarian and they don’t offer a veggies entree) the sizes of the salads and soup are smaller than regular sides when you order the entree AND when they told me the total was almost $40.00 for one person, I asked about the portions and they said “you know what, we just aren’t going to take your order” I was shocked at how poor the service was here!I got yelled at and treated so disrespectful. I left without dinner and I hadn’t eaten a meal all day! I’d never suggest this place to anyone.
