It appears to be closed. The map directions was a different business. Hopefully it has moved. We would like to check it out.

Charged half price for hitting my head!On a road trip to New Albany for a wedding, along Hwy 45 we stopped to look at a really cute food and flea market something we like to do. Help support local businesses while traveling through our state. Soon entering they had really nice cute exterior rocking chairs. One I was really interested in purchasing so I sat in it to try it out. It was more of an antique older chair. I’m small and only weigh 100lbs. The back of the leg broke which caused me to fall back, hit my head on metal grocery carts behind the chairs, hit my arm on this large wooden desk, scratched my leg on the chair, as well as my skirt flying up. As soon as this happened the employees rushes out rips the tag off of the chair and said “looks like you got yourself a chair.” Not at any point was she concerned about my well-being, there were no signs that we saw of on the property that said “no sitting on chairs” which will have one think that they are alright with you sitting in the chairs and can support average weights. We proceed to spend the next 45 minutes in the store in which we all purchased something of $20 or more. At checkout she rang me up for half price of the chair for being broke and claimed she was being nice… they obviously aren’t nice enough to be concerned enough for their customers well being by putting unchecked broken chairs in the front of their store and selling for high prices $70. Which couldn’t even support a small weight. It’s a chair, I understand the “break it you buy it” but I should have been able to sit in it before buying without it breaking. Anyone could have came along to try the chair out, what if it had been an elderly person and not me. Or my pregnant friend with me could have took the fall. I’m sure the lady wouldn’t have been overly rude then. If your going to put a price tag on a usable item it should be previously inspected and removed from a sitting area. There was also a camera which will clearly would show there was no horse play. It’s also not worth the stop if your looking for fresh real Amish products and not Amish employed. They were all imported from out of town, kept in a freezer or molding on the shelf. We had no where to fit the chair, as we are traveling out of town. The women didn’t even remove the chair from the front porch so be cautious when visiting you may be the next to fall!

This is NOT an Amish market. It’s hot and stinks like old musty houses. They have a few items that they have bought from the Amish and are reselling but using that to lure you in. This is just a flea market

Truly a local treasure of unique home made items & some tasty amish made goodies foodies will appreciate. I frequent this store everytime coming back from Gulf Shores prior moving to the local flea market (see picture for location). The biggest highlight for me stopping over is the food. I love home made churn butter & hoop cheese. Their home made wheat, and raisin breads are the freshest breads I have eaten next to my local bakeries a small bit of butter or home made jams complimented each slice. Side of hoop cheese made this a excellent breakfast snack. The cashiers' a pleasure. With her friendly attitude & helpful in finding any particular product I was seeking or interested me in a bestseller & personal recommendations. Outside of the food offered. Other merchandise available such as a few antiques collectables, knick knacks & other old items found at a country general store. The suspense & eagerness to visit their store again is intense. I have to visit Captain Amish at their flea market location next road trip & I currently live further then Marion. I do recommend locals or anyone driving thru to make this a stop on a road trip or enjoyable part of their flea market visit. I included some extra food recommendations below the FB link. Be sure to like on FB & tell a friend facebook.com/captainsami… Recommendations: lemon squares apple pie & Home made Sticky Buns.

Love this place!! Amish cheeses, fresh baked breads and vine ripe tomatoes & other produce. Goods made by the Amish community in Ohio. Furniture from Mennonites in MO. plus other great stuff Capt. Richard Gatewood finds from all over. Lots of cool stuff here!!! This is a super cool store with something for most people. My sons loves the cheese and butter. I like the fresh baked bread and the raw local honeys and some of the artisan items are hard to pass on. There's so much going on here from the small glass baseball refrigerator magnets to the 8 foot concrete painted alligator to the cheese curds and the vine ripe tomatoes. They have a truly eclectic selection of, how did they used to say it in the good old days, goods and wares. What got my attention initially was the homemade goods like the jams, jellies, relishes, 40 types of cheeses and Amish butter and it keeps me coming back for more. This place actually reminds me of a cross between an old country stores in Appalachia and a roadside stand in Amish country Pennsyavania with hand crafted furniture and lawn ornaments and shelves full of canned pepers and chow chow. It's just plain cool!! They don't have a website that I can finfld but there's a Facebook page at:wew.facebook.com/captainsamishstore/ and a local business listing at:

Prices are a little on the high side, but the cheese curds are great so we stopped back by again this year for them on the way back home. My mother loves the hoop cheese too!

I love this place! It saves me from having to drive all the way up to Brooksville to get the yummy treats I enjoy.
