What a very lovely place! My daughter and I were visiting family in Great Falls and took advantage and visited the museum. It was beautiful to see the paintings, sculptures and historic artifacts. A must see in Great Falls! The staff was warm and welcoming and there are beautiful prints and items for purchase in the gift shop. A really pleasant experience,

Definitely the reason Montana has his Buffalo skulls the license plates!Charlie Russell was and will always be part of Montana. Museum was modern and huge. Another of historical information, his paintings, most of which are loaned or donated because selling or trading these was what he lived off of. The price of admission is well worth the privilege to share in his artistic talents and to see history through his eyes. If you're in the area, make it a bucket list item to come here.

Museum for C.M. Russell, an iconic painter of the West. Primarily paintings and drawings, with some sculptures. The are other exhibits of contemporary and modern artists showing the West as it was, as it was mythologized, and how it is. Outside of the museum are the house and studio of C.M. Russell. Highly recommended for those interested in the Old West.

I knew nothing about CM Russell until today, wife read about it and wanted to go. I’m now a fan wishing I had come here sooner. His work is just amazing, so talented in so many art forms, the detail and use of vibrant colors just is to be seen in person he sounds like quite the character. I also enjoyed the works in the auction area. Visit took over 3 hrs and could have been longer

A stellar magical place. Fills you up with the majesty of the West, and tells you the story of the rough&tumble, colorful artsy characters of Charlie and his friends.Worth going out of your way!

MUCH more to this museum than expected. It's huge inside & has a great collection of artwork, CMR of course but others too that paint a more complete picture of his life & times. My favorite part is his studio and home. I love being able to see more into the life of the artist; it makes for a much more immersive experience. We spent 2.5 hours here, and could have spent longer, but for tired old knees. Will have to make another visit! Highly recommend a trip or two.

The C.M Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana, is a must-visit for art lovers and history buffs alike. The museum is dedicated to the life and work of famed Western artist, Charles Marion Russell, also known as C.M Russell. Russell's art captures the spirit of the American West and its people in a way that is both authentic and romanticized. The museum is home to an extensive collection of Russell's paintings, sculptures, and personal artifacts. The exhibits are beautifully curated, and visitors can get a sense of Russell's life and creative process as they wander through the galleries. The museum also houses a research library, archives, and a studio where Russell worked. What I appreciated most about the museum was how it contextualized Russell's art within the larger historical and cultural landscape of the American West. The museum's exhibits provide insights into the lives of the indigenous peoples, cowboys, and settlers who inhabited the West during Russell's time. The museum also explores the impact of industrialization, technology, and changing social norms on the West's landscapes and communities. The museum's staff is knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and they offer guided tours, educational programs, and workshops for visitors of all ages. I particularly enjoyed the museum's interactive exhibits, which allowed me to engage with the art and history in new and exciting ways.Overall, the C.M Russell Museum is a fantastic destination for anyone interested in Western art, history, or culture. The museum's collection is impressive, and the exhibits are engaging and informative. I highly recommend a visit to this gem of a museum in the heart of Montana.

Awesome, beautiful experience. Took us over two hours to walk through the museum; because there are so many wonderful works of art to look at. Charlie's original art studio cabin and his house were wonderful to go through. The museum has a very nice gift shop. What seemed like three awesome levels of art and sculptures to admire. It was only two. Very beautiful experience. Anyone would be happy to see this wonderful part of history.

A cultural gem for our community. However they stopped hosting public gatherings like quartet performances and the security guards are a bit creepy since covid. The gift shop is a must for a worldly tourist.
