I can't say enough good things about this place. The new Chef they brought in is doing some amazing things with the menu and the food is absolutely on point!! There were 4 of us and we decided to do a more or less tasting menu which the chef and staff happily obliged. This allowed us to try multiple appetizers, entree items and desserts. It was more or less dealers choice on the food which at first made me a little nervous. The apps came out and none of them would have been what I would have thought to order initially. It was mostly vegetables, smoked or stewed, but this is what was going to set the tone for the evening. The simplicity of the dishes but complex flavor profiles each had was phenomenal. I would order them 10 x's over again. Everything that came out of the kitchen from there on out was above and beyond. We were able to taste multiple items all of which were executed with perfection. This is a great place to grab a drink and a sandwich or have an all out 5 star meal. It will be a go to on the regular for sure!!

We had a great time at Avenue M. It was a little difficult to get a reservation since you can't book online and the phone is only answered after 5pm, but the staff were super friendly and accommodating and got us set up for dinner on the patio (more like a sunroom, with lots of big windows that are left open. A fun vibe). We ordered the charcuterie, which was fine but would probably skip next time. The pasta entrees we ordered were amazing! We split the Lazo (fettuccine with shrimp) and the ricotta cavatelli. I love spicy food, so was super happy with the cavatelli, which is served with n'duja ragu. The shrimp in the Lazo dish were massive and fresh and the fettuccine was served al dente. We split the blackberry clafoutis for dessert, which was delicious! The service was also great -- everyone was very friendly.
Allison, Thank you so much for the 5 star review and thank you so much for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Cheers, Ralph & Tony
I had been to Avenue M a year or two ago and while it was good it was not amazing. THAT ALL CHANGED!I was not aware that Avenue M had changed hands and it is now owned/operated by Chef Andrew McLeod. This means a menu that changes often with super seasonal ingredients by local farmers. It has in-house made pasta, charcuterie, pickles.. everything. If it wasn't for the pandemic, this would be in out weekly date night list. For now we have been ordering to pick up.Here are some of the things we ordered in the past week:Tomato pie with pimento cheese. So good.Half a chicken glazed in soy. Gigantic and so tender and flavorful.Johnny cakes with country ham.three bean salad with rose chanterelles.Denver steak with some delicious corn and tomato relish thing.blackberry clafoutis.Fettuccini with shrimp: another favorite. They have a special place for cars to park for the pick up orders. Very well organized. I can't wait to feel safe again to dine out but while that doesn't happen, I am so glad to have another great option for take out.
This was the first Asheville restaurant we visited on our vacation to this fun little town. We picked Avenue M for the outdoor seating and the solid reviews. We weren't at all disappointed. We ordered the Catfish & Grits, Curried Cauliflower, and one order of Chicken Piccata for our two young's kids. Usually, I'd be able to finish all the leftovers for our family. And I came close this time, but my wife would have had to roll me out.Delicious food, nice chats with the owners, and a solid atmosphere. We'll be back!!
Super delicious dining experience with the friendliest service. Love love love the following dishes: fried Brussels sprouts, squash with pumpkin seed, Bear creek farms Denver steak, grilled and chilled three bean salad, sour corn Johnny cake, ice cream sandwich with coffee ice cream, and blue crab Rangoon. Great social distancing exercising. 5 stars.
William, Thank you so much for the kind review and for always being level with us. We always appreciate your feed back. Glad you have been enjoying the new side dishes. Looking forward to discussing more wines with you. Cheers, Ralph & Tony
Mel, Thank you so much for the great review. Hope you can return real soon. Cheers, Ralph & Tony
Visited Avenue M on Friday evening for drinks and appetizers. Everything was excellent - especially the cold corn soup and the hoppin' john. Well-ventilated space in the front of the restaurant felt very safe. Staff were all wearing masks and were attentive to safety. Excellent, fast, and friendly service. We'll be back!
The corn/red pepper sauce was delicious. Homemade ice cream. Top service
