This is the spot to go to when in Asheville or as a local looking for a restaurant who still prioritizes the ambiance and unmatched quality of food. Steph, Ralph and Tony are owners who care and love what they do. Easily my favorite spot to eat in Asheville. Not a bad choice on the menu. Ralph’s knowledge on wine is unreal and def worth listening to for pairing.
My Italian Beef sandwich was not good. First, the bun was gigantic, wasn't toasted, and had no flavor. Second, the amount of meat was puny, and it was tough, unflavorful, and had no juice. Third, there was no au jus. Fourth, the giardiniera wasn't pickled, was too crunchy, and there was an overpowering amount that dwarfed the amount of meat on the sandwich (and it shouldn't contain jalapeno peppers). Fifth, the cheese wasn't melted. All in all, a gigantic fail. The fries, however, were good. My companion's meal of fish and chips was much better, but to not offer tartar sauce is just stupid. And, yes, I realize your take on these two classics allows you to make changes, the changes you made weren't good at all.

We dined at Avenue M several times before Covid and enjoyed the experience. We decided to return there and meet some friends for dinner. We were seated in the front area, which has zero atmosphere. Our waitress was nice and helpful, but the menu was odd and the food was mediocre. Probably won't return.

This is the best restaurant in Asheville. The staff is beyond knowledgeable about the entire menu. Read that again. The staff is beyond knowledgeable about the ENTIRE menu. The food is always great. The servers are second to none. Ralph and Tony are engaged and a testament to a time gone by in regard to how owners interact and are among their patrons. Ralph has forgotten more about wines than most of us will ever know. I cannot stress enough how great this place is. Whenever someone comes to visit- I tell them to go to Avenue M.

What happened?Used to have an amazing and kind of weird menu. Now it’s all overpriced garbage trying to appeal to a fine dining crowd. $24 for pasta is beyond me and the menu is absolutely bizarre. Maybe skip out on this one until it has some better ownership and can have a diverse afordable menu. A sad decline to a staple of Marrymon.

Wonderful meal at Avenue M. We tried a couple of new items on the menu and a couple we'd loved before. All were great. We love how they updated the menu with new and interesting selections. They always have the best wine selection and wonderful seasonal cocktails.

Our dinners at Avenue M have been delicious and creative! The staff is incredibly friendly and make a point to remember who we are when we return. We have been choosing Avenue M as our to go place for dinner because it is hard to beat in all aspects of a dining experience.

We've eaten here many times, but hands down, this was the best meal I've had there. Everything was perfectly cooked, my martini was excellent and the service was excellent.
Really love this neighborhood restaurant on marijuana. Service is always excellent and it's got a casual, easy-going vibe. I would only wish some more yummy meals to enjoy that do not contain meat, dairy, or gluten. Food is so yummy and flavorful and creative, just a few more choices without meat or dairy would take it so far!
Super cozy dinner on an otherwise cold And rainy night. Food was creative and satisfying , wine list was fun and diverse. Staff was warm and extremely accommodating. Just a wonderful experience start to finish.

Came here for an office party - what a delicious and special night! Our server was exceptional and we even received a visit from the owner, Ralph. Phenomenal hospitality, incredible food... excellent meal!

Fantastic, unique food beautifully prepared from an ever-changing menu. Great wine list put together by certified sommelier & it shows. Consistently one of the best restaurants in Asheville.

We are Asheville locals who have been dining at Avenue M since is was previously operating as Usual Suspects. Throughout the past 15+ years, the food has always been great and the service very friendly. Our recent January 2024 experience was solid on the service side but the food was rather disappointing. Our party of 8 had a broad variety of cocktails, appetizers and entrees. While the appetizers were good, the entrees were consistently very, very salty. So much so that they tasted almost brined. Even the salad was over salted. The menu itself was smaller and more limited than all previous visits. Not sure if there have have been recent management or back of the house changes, but something seems to have shifted. Hopefully it was just an off night.

We just ordered off of the appetizer menu. Meat board, fish board, salad and bread. And then some delicious sorbet for dessert. All was tasty and enjoyable. Service, Mary was pleasant and good. Fun to meet a friend and chat.
