Arrived with little to no wait. Our host Miriam was kind and took care of our order. Jon provided us tips on what we should order as it all sounded delicious! We ordered the GSW rice bowl added brisket( you can add multiple choice of meat to any dish including tofu for additional cost). The bowl came with a variety of fresh sweet and tangy toppings as well as sweet soy & mayo. The bowl was very filling neither of us could finish. We also ordered the Japanese fries…. These are hands down(deep down to the last one in the big bowl they are served in)delicious with the seasoning they top them with then dipping them in the spicy mayo and sweet soy on the side makes them even better. They have a fine crisp crunchy outside and soft fluffy potato center-my favorite texture in my opinion as it’s well balanced.Dietary restrictions: They offer vegan and gluten sensitive items provided knowledge on menuParking: There is street parking and a small lot that’s connected to the other side(pizza mind).

The GSW bowl is incredible, I get that and the brussel sprouts a few times a week. The price is good for all that you get, it’s delicious and I feel great after eating it (full but not heavy and my sensitive stomach is always happy)

Best Asian Fusion Restaurant that has very delicious meals. Try their rice bowl and add extra veggies and choose a protein. Excellent@

Love Gan Shan. We’ve been eating here for years, long before moving to Asheville. Food is usually fast and so so good! Disappointed to see changes to the menu since new ownership. No more pulled pork or wings! Brisket is sold out often, too. And maybe another gluten free entree/appetizer for the celiacs.Dietary restrictions: a few gluten free/dairy free options

Gan Shan is a nice little gem in West Asheville. Next to Archetype for a great food to-go and beer option. Overall my experience was that the food is good, but pretty pricey for the portion size. A small container of wonton soup was $10 and if you go for the rice bowl each protein is going to be $4+ extra - it doesn't come with any of them included. The quality was pretty decent though so I would go back and will recommend them to others! Just a bit costly for what you get in my opinion

Gan Shan was my favorite place for General Tso due to their unique flavor and quality chicken cooked well. Lately after they business has changed hands, food quality has dropped slightly, the portion sizes are smaller, and last time I ordered take out (1/13/2023) my dishes came in plastic tubs vs the paper cartons. I’m never thrilled with wasteful plastic packaging vs. compostable options (even if they are marginally more expensive).

I went in on a cold day last week and it was a fantastic meal. It was delicious and really warmed me up! It’s a cool spot and the service was great. Not only was the meal nourishing so was the staff, I had a great conversation with the person up front, I think his name was Rob. He was very friendly, thoughtful, and kind to my family (we have a couple loud children). He recommended a few other places around town for activities that we ended up checking out on our getaway. Great service, great food! Highly recommend! I’ll be back and will recommend to others. Thanks Rob & Gan Shan!

The ramen that we had here was incredible! It's a smaller place, so expect a little bit of a wait if it's busy; take-out would probably be your best bet.

We absolutely love the ramen at Gan Shan West! The spicy beef with an egg is to die for! You order your food & sit anywhere (including an attached brewery called Archetype) & they bring their food to you! In the summertime there are many outdoor seating options too. If you have those that prefer pizza or other Italian items you’re in luck because there is also another restaurant attached! The ramen, however, is the absolute best!Kid-friendliness: There’s lots of room to spread out! Bring a game for them to play & enjoy!
