Such a great spot. We were a little nervous to enter as it's located in an industrial area and the windows are covered but once inside we felt very comfortable. Belinda was super welcoming and explained the flights and tasting options to us. The other customers were fun too, comparing our notes and just chatting in general. We thoroughly enjoyed our tasting and took a growler to go. Cider over Beer any day. Would definitely visit again if ever in the area.

Excellent tastes across-the-board! This is what a real local small business looks like. Comfortable environment. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Can’t wait to go back again! Thanks Jess, Sarah, and David.

Tucked away a few miles from Asheville (also near the delightful Pisgah Brewing Company), Black Mountain provides a unique tasting experience focused on flights of dry cider and sesssion mead. Most are traditional and lightly soured, which is a very nice change of pace from conventional big-label ciders and meads, which, although the scene is changing, are typically a bit sweet for my tastes. I recommend getting a full flight of 10 ciders and meads (at an incredibly reasonable $30), reading the printed notes, and just seeing what suits your fancy. They work with various flavoring ingredients ranging from berries, orange peel, ginger, etc. It's a fun and interesting series of well-thought-out experiments. There's an outdoor patio and an indoor tasting room with a bar and several couches. No food service, but bringing your own is welcome, and both children and dogs are permitted both inside and out. (There are even custom cookies for the pooches.) David and Jessica (the owner-operator couple who run the place) are awesome people and my party greatly enjoyed the space and the friendly service.

Amazing cider and mead selection! Really enjoyed the pistachio and cherry/honey (can't remember the exact name!) meads. Will definitely be back to visit soon!

This stop came with a reminiscing story about when John's sister brought mom here and she drank and fell asleep sitting at the bar and started snoring, lol. We arrived and I was happy to pick my tasting flight and sample meads and ciders- some of my favorite beverages! Everything is on draught, which means taking any home would be in growlers- and home for us was not local- so we just sampled and enjoyed- which was very good! The Zephyrus was one of my favorites- cider with ginger and candied orange peel & I enjoyed the All Hall which was watermelon and mint cider. The Viking Blood mead was also tasty. I will say mead is done differently in this area than what I have tried in other places, but that could be the difference between draught and bottled. Maybe. But I enjoyed my flight very much!

I'm a huge fan of cider and mead and have gone to several amazing places, but this one remains my favorite! The drinks are fantastic, the staff is lovely (I've had the best time chatting with both David and Sarah), and the vibes are just perfect. The last time I visited was on my bachelorette party, and everyone was so friendly and welcoming! Sarah even gave us some amazing marriage advice that we wrote down so we don't forget! I truly can't recommend Black Mountain Cider + Mead enough. I would go there all the time if I lived closer! 10/10!

Small friendly place! Great selection of meads and ciders. There is a wide selection of flavor combinations you don't find elsewhere. Which, in my opinion, is the best reason to buy local from small craftsmen and craftswomen. The attention to detail is something you just can't get with larger, commercial establishments.

The service was great, place was clean, drinks were good. What more could you ask for?

The ambiance and the flavor of the ciders/meads left something to be desired for me. I found the ciders and mead to be quite sour, and I was expecting much sweeter flavors. I did enjoy the Viking Blood and would recommend that above the other flavors I tried. There was a slight Mountain View over the industrial buildings where this business is located. However, I wish I would have opted to go to the town center for the ambiance and perhaps some sweeter drinks.

David was wonderful! He took the time to explain to us what each cider was and made us feel so welcome! Highly recommend coming here and trying the black sheep mead!

This lovely hidden gem is a noteworthy place to stop in Black Mountain. The ciders and mead here are varied, yet each offer their own distinct flavors. David was a welcoming host and offered great suggestions and guidance in choosing flavorful ciders and meads.

Some of the very best Cider in NC. Craft brewed in small batches leads to regularly novel creations that bring me back week after week. I particularly love the cyser mixes of delicious meads with cider classics that create something unique and relatively quite rare in the cider art form.Jess and David rock!! Great place, great cider and always a great time!
