The Easter Meal from Aria was such a steal! Braised lamb shank, roasted veggies, and mashed potatoes for $18/person. The lamb fell right off the bone and the veggies were seasoned perfectly. They even delivered it for free and the food was still hot.
Very pleasing atmosphere & fun knowledgeable waiter. We both loved our entrees, a fish & a pasta. Would definitely return.
I have been to Aria a couple times before for dinner, but never for lunch. Stopped in for a workday lunch and while the food was decent the service was not. Our server came by and screwed up the order, then we got a new server who was better. The room manager was involved and came by twice to check on us and double check our order. We were a party of two who each ordered a main course and a non alcoholic beverage. Not difficult stuff here. When you have 3 staff members at your table repeatedly, it's hard to have a conversation with the person you came with. I had the Margherita pizza and she had the salmon burger. Both were tasty, but it ruined the mood when the wait staff can't get it together!
The place offers a large variety of fresh food. I enjoy dining here. Staff members are always very friendly, pricing is convenient and the place is always neat.
Italian? Tuscan? Not in the least. Not only was the food disappointing, but it certainly was not REAL Italian cuisine. For Charlotte, perhaps, but if you are authentic Italian (most wont eat out Italian anyway) or from NY, you may want to skip this place. We ordered a large order of meatballs. The first batch cake out like warm with a cold center. The second was better temp. The Elk loins were cooked well but also came out only slightly warm. The authentic Sicilian cannoli was nothing like a real Sicilian cannoli. They served upside down and the ricotta cream was way too sweet an watery. The shell was not good at all. The last end to the night was the large plastic shard pulled out of my coworkers mouth while eating the cannoli. At lest the manager was nice enough to take off one cannoli after our horrible dinner experience.
Staff very nice and big groups of people. Food was delicious . Ambiance was enjoyable with good selection of beer and wine.
God-bless restaurant week! Able to go to places I would normally go for a really really reasonable price and still get great service
Food was good. Nice experience in Charlotte. Quite the happening place. Nice restaurant, great bar, vibe and live singer.
Well, we decided to go out the night before Valentine's Day to Aria,(which could have been our fault in having good expectations) We have come to many times and usually take family members when they are in town. I am not sure if that was the cause of the night but it was simply disappointing to be exact. We decided to go because we had a large amount gifted to us from relatives knowing that we love the place. From the beginning of the meal the server was frazzled and no where to be seen. Meanwhile there was only 5 tables in the room. I felt bad for her because she was clearly struggling. To be exact we put in an appetizer and two first courses, and two main. The app we did not see for a long time, therefore when a hostess walked by I asked her if she could find the server, which she looked at me and then walked back to the hostess stand. Finally we asked the manager about it and it had been 45 mins. At this point, we were at least happy that the manager knew, as we thought then our food would come out in a timely manner. However, it did not. It had been about an 1:15 mins before we saw a simple salad. The manager offered quickly to give us our food to go and to pay for it. However, she did not comprehend that the money was not the issue. It was the fact that a night that should have been pleasant, and lovely was completely ruined by the poor experience. (not to mention when we got home we both ate some of the food and did not feel well after) It is sad to say that we are not sure if we want to come back to the establishment, and will hopefully be able to trade the gift card for a different restaurant.
We loved this restaurant. Everything we had was authentic Italian...from the frito misto appetizer to delicious Gnocchi in a hearty tomato sauce. Definitely will go back the next time we are in Charlotte.
Consistently delicious food and great service. We visited and made reservations, were seated within 5min of time we arrived and ended up with same server as first visit. She's *(Robyn sp?) is wonderful and attentive. Knows the menu and checks in on the table just enough. It was a wonderful evening. Definitely on our list of must visit restaurants in Charlotte for friends and family who enjoy fine cuisine.
Menu looks good and the service was good. Food was good but not great. Pasta came out warm but not hot. I had higher expectations.
Aria has an amazing ambiance you feel like your in Italy, the chefs table is a great place to sit cause your right in the action. My favorites are the short rib gnocchi and Marscapone cheesecake
A nice place with complimentary valet parking. The caramelized gnocchi is amazing! I had the prime rib with olive oil whipped potatoes that was very good.
Also the service was subpar. Will not be back.
Aria is perfect for a large party, a cocktail at the bar, or a romantic dinner. The service was reasonable and everyone in my party enjoyed their meal. I was slightly disappointed in the caramel ones gnocchi appetizer, but I highly recommend the eggplant starter, home made pappardele, steak, and tiramisu.
Love this place. I just wish it was closer. We enjoyed our dinner before the Jonas Brothers concert. They staff was super helpful, attentive and the food was great.
Despite liking its chic metro ambiance here, I've come to a conclusion that this is just not my fave Italian in town. I've been here three times by now...twice during Queen's Feast, and once on a regular night. On my most recent visit with a friend, I ordered their Penne a la Vodka, and their Fritto Misto. Well, I forgot to add Protein to my Penne Pasta, and that in itself sort of ruined the meal...but no matter, I just didn't think their Penne Pasta tasted as good as some I've come to love around town. Plus, I prefer thicker, pinker Vodka sauce. Same with the Calamari. I liked the presentation, but not the best I've had. I remember thinking the same during Queen's Feast from years back. Service was good, not great...and the overall experience was just OK at most. I feel that as an uptown restaurant, the food should taste a cut above...but honestly, I like the Pasta and the Calamari better at the more casual places like Brio. But then, I will say that the foods are very reasonably priced...some possibly cheaper than Brio. Overall, I would go here again if initiated by a friend or a group, but wouldn't personally pick it. Sorry!
Our visit was during restaurant week. You would not have known based on the service or flow of the night, everything ran smoothly. The construction around the building and finding parking caused us to be late but they were able to accommodate us with no issues. We began with a 3-course meal with the PEI mussels with white wine and the wild mushrooms pizza. The fennel in the white wine sauce could have used more fennel. The wild mushrooms come through in the pizza giving it an earthy flavor. I would have liked more of the caramelized onions. For the main course, we ordered the cavatelli and braised lamb shank. The cavatelli was our favorite, the rich oxtail sauce. The lamb lacked a punch, I was expecting more flavor. It was tender and a large portion. We finished our meal with the mascarpone cheesecake and the Sicilian cannoli. You can't go wrong with either dessert here. Overall we had a nice night and enjoy our dinner.
I have to admit that I was truly looking forward to this experience, especially since I opted to go for Queens Feast on a Friday night before a show. However, I set the reservation for 6:30 and asked if I could go earlier but could not. I won't pretend to know the ins and outs of the inner workings but needless to say was disappointed that I could not and will spare the rest of those details. I was still expecting a great meal. However, despite even having our choices picked out ahead of time there were a few hiccups- the first being not getting water until food came and the last being that our ticket was lost in the kitchen. We ended up asking for dessert to go because everything took so long. From when we asked for dessert, it took another 25 mins to get it and it took just as long to then pay and wait for my card to be returned. I will say that by the time I ate, business had picked up substantially, there were over twice as many people in the restaurant. I posted pics of the food but not the dessert since they had to be boxed up. The sausage pizza app was fine, as was the gnocchi but we did not finish it. It was great if you were somehow able to get a lot of sauce with a bite of prosciutto in a bite. Otherwise, rather flavorless. The lamb shank looked stunning and was a great texture and truly fell off the bone. However, it lacked flavor. The scallop entree was tasty but would never fill anyone up. We also added on the Bolognese since I'm on the prowl for the best Italian and that is my benchmark. It was delicious. I didn't need the added cheese in all honestly but the dish was the best of the night. As for dessert: the cake was more chocolate whipped cream than anything and the cheesecake was good especially with the added pistachios. Overall, I don't see myself returning unless I really want bolognese for some reason before going to Belk Theater.
You guys - this place is sooooo yum! Hand made pasta, extensive ItalIan wine list. What's not to love?!!! Stopped in during Queen's Feast (restaurant week) and completely forgot it was going on. Started with the Shaved Kale Salad. Which had a really great and light vinaigrette on it. Little pops of pomegranate bursted in my mouth! Main course, I obviously chose the Carbonara. And boy am I glad I did. The pasta was perfectly created from scratch and perfectly al dente. I highly recommend it if you want one of those pasta dishes that will speak to your soul. Dessert - went for the marscapone cheesecake. Had little drizzle of caramel and chocolate sauce all around it and was sprinkled with pistachios. My pops got the gelato trio. Do yourself a favor and just get the orange gelato. Life changing. Creamsicle. Can't wait to come back after Dryuary and drink some Italian vino!!
Went to Aria for Queen's Feast. Service was great, as was the ambience. And the food was mostly on point. My fennel sausage orecchiette was without defect. Everything from the pepper, to the handmade pasta, to the broccoli rabe was prepared perfectly. The same can be said for my eggplant parmigiana appetizer. As to the meal as a whole, there were only two minor issues, unfortunately both part of my daughter's meal - the basil gelato's texture was gritty, perhaps overturned; and the penne all vodka was just okay, as in average Italian fare ok. Also, there was no one available for valet off of College St, as the site promised. Not a huge deal with the adjoining Bank of America garage, but still a bit annoying.
The scallops were divine, the pizza, was good and the forbidden rice was very authentic. Atmosphere great with a special ambiance.
Can't believe it took me this long to try this place. Beautiful decor and vibe inside. Their wine liSt is extensive, but Chianti is probably your best choice as far as Italian wine The soup is an excellent choice for an app when it's freezing outside, it will definitely warm you right up! The main dishes were excellent as well, the roasted trout was fresh and the gnocchi with shrimp is hand-made goodness! And for dessert, there was only one choice for me - Tiramisu - although I am sure all of their other dessert choices might have been just as declines. Our server was great and we felt very welcomed. Definitely recommended for a date night spot or out for a great warm meal with a few friends.
Server provided good suggestions and options. Dishes for 14 all came out at the same time. Impressive. Cocktail I ordered was good, not great. Should have gone with wine. They have an extensive list.
Was walking by here on my way to another restaurant, when I saw this restaurant with a Zagat rating and bar bites. I went in and sat at the bar. The 2 female bartenders were awesome! They gave me water right away and let me sample some wines. I ordered the gnocchi. I have never been here and after I got my delicious wine, the food came out really quickly. The gnocchi was delicious and super filling for only $5! They gave me a little loaf of bread and white beans. The white beans were delicious and the bread was so fresh. My bill for wine and gnocchi was only $14 and I was full! For a restaurant in a downtown, that is a hell of a deal. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and the staff was fantastic. They even had chargers for phones at the bar. Overall, 5 star for food, service and overall vibe.
Made a reservation online for 8 pm for here. We arrived and were ushered to a table upstairs literally in the farthest corner right next to the window facing the inside of the mall when there were tables open downstairs and tables open across from us. Asked to be moved and still were shown a table right next to the mall with the bright incandescent lights shining in. The table next to us was FILLED with dirty dishes the wait staff then proceeded to clean up next to us. I felt like we were pushed aside and discarded upstairs. They brought an actual mini bottle of coke to the table because they "ran out of glasses". The food was mediocre. Won't be returning here again. If I go to a nice $$ restaurant I don't want to be pushed to a corner next to a mall with people walking past staring in. Thanks but no thanks.
While bar hopping, on New Year’s Eve, this was our third and final stop. Why, the food was great and the two man band was thumping! My boyfriend had the salmon while I enjoyed three items from the bar bites menu, gnocchi, brussel sprouts, and pork ribs. Thank you Robin for your service. See you soon!
Excellent service...!! Delicious fresh ingredients masterfully prepared to make you feel like if you were in Florence. Loved it...!
Service was above average. Food was so-so. Calamari was above average but the penne vodka was almost tasteless! Pizza was good but could be same as if you bought from a make your own pizza joint for 1/2 the cost. Would go elsewhere in Charlotte in the future for Italian food.
We go to Aria each year before the Nutcracker. We had the pleasure of having Lucky as a server this year and he was FANTASTIC. Highly recommend Aria. Amazing food, great service and ambiance. Walking distance to Blumenthal Arts.
Great menu, great Uptown location, great place to go before a show. The calamari is excellent. Awesome wine selection. Lucky was our sever this time and did not disappoint. His recommendations were spot on and the entertainment was a plus!
I selected Aria for my husband’s birthday dinner. The restaurant itself is beautiful, the wine list is well rounded, the servers are attentive and knowledgeable, and the food is always consistent. I personally love their tiramisu. This was my first time booking a 20+ party at Aria, and I only gave them a little more than a week notice. Despite my short notice, the staff at Aria were very accommodating and they showed genuine care when my husband and I had to unexpectedly leave the dinner. My friends and family raved about the food, wine, and service, but what really impressed me was the phone call that came days after. The restaurant called to check on our well being, and I truly appreciated the gesture.
Food was good. Our server Lucky was excellent! Meal portions seem to be off depending on what you order. Was not impressed with the cappuccino nor the tiramisu. The place was packed for Thursday lunch, pretty loud.
There aren't many places that offer food specials on a Friday, but this is one! Went here around 6pm, and was able to snag one of the last 2 seats at the bar. The inside vibe is chic and great for a date night or girls night out. Aria has $5 Bar Bites everyday after 5pm (at the bar only), so we tried a few items. We ordered the Fried Mozzarella Curds, Angus Beef Burger Sliders, and the Sausage Bar Pizza. Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. We liked the burger sliders so much, that we placed a second order for them. For drinks, I had one of their specialty cocktails, which was quite tasty, and a glass of red wine. They don't offer drink specials, but the regular prices are very reasonable. This was about our 3rd time going to Aria for the bar bite specials, and each time we have been greeted with smiling faces by the bartenders. They are always friendly and very attentive. Can't wait to return!
Great place for food and drinks at the bar. Reasonably priced. Professional and at the same tim warm service.
We had a very enjoyable evening at Aria. The food was very good and our server was very attentive and accommodating. I would definitely go there again.
Tried Aria last night. Very dark interior and boy was it hot inside especially after a brisk walk from our hotel. The white wine was tepid but decent selection. Salads had beautiful presentation. Calamari was just ok but was fresh enough. My husband had the veal loin special and loved it. Lots of typical trattoria selections.
Upscale ambiance, good wine selections, and their short ribs with risotto is amazing! I’ve eaten here a couple of times now and have been pleasantly surprised by everything i have eaten so far. Definitely worth the visit if you are looking for food Italian food!
My husband and I are visiting Charlotte from Arizona and we found this lovely restaurant for dinner tonight. The food was superb and our waiter was excellent!
