This restaurant has some of the BEST food and staff of any restaurant I’ve been to, which makes it five stars in itself. But the reason for this review is different. My husband and I have a service dog that we hadn’t taken with us here yet. We did bring his dog this evening, on a very busy holiday weekend. The restaurant has a prominent sign on the front door advising of their no pet policy with the exception of service dogs. When he entered with his service dog, he was greeted by Josie who very politely asked the two questions allowed under federal ADA law and then seated him as soon as a table was available. I had the opportunity to speak with Josie as well and wanted to thank her for being so courteous and kind while ensuring the laws were being followed. This is the first time he has been asked these questions, and I thoroughly appreciate the care she took to ensure they are a proper team, which keeps everyone safe.Too often, people aren’t properly informed of the rights and responsibilities of handlers and the businesses they patronize.All this to say thank you to Josie and Haywood Smokehouse for their diligence and care to us this evening.

We stopped here when traveling through we were actually going to go somewhere else but it had an hour wait and this was within walking distance so we came here they only had a 25 min wait and it was a true 25 mins. They were very busy but the staff was very kind and didn’t rush anything got our food and we were absolutely stunned! This place is amazing and highly suggest to give it a try!
My staff and I were out yesterday on an excursion and we found this little gem. We were looking for a late lunch place. We were welcomed and seated fast and we had the best waitress, Susie. She was attentive and very helpful as this was our first time there. She was absolutely on point with all her recommendations. The Brisket was melt in your mouth. Will definitely return.

The restaurant is quaint and well staffed. The staff was very friendly and helpful in explaining the menu and the different sauces. The food was top notch!! We had their pork belly tacos, very good! Their ribs, so delicious! Our waitress Roscio, asked how everything was and told us that they are known for their brisket and gave us a sample, she was not wrong, we had to order some to go!!! Would definitely come back to North Carolina just to eat here again!!

Country style smoked brisket and 2 sides. I choose the burnt end baked beans and also the green beans which was seasoned delicious. With the smoked brisket try the strawberry chipotle sauce which is very good and a must try for sure.
If you’re in the area you must stop in and eat here! They have some of the best brisket and pulled pork I’ve ever eaten. They have a bunch of sauces to choose from, but honestly the meat is so good it doesn’t even need any sauce. Our server was so friendly and helpful I wish I could remember her name. The baked beans were probably the best I’ve had at any restaurant. If we return to the area Haywood will definitely be on our itinerary!

I had about 4 hours to kill waiting for a car repair, so I dropped in at Haywood Smokehouse in Waynesville for a late lunch and to wait for my car. I was by myself and the hostess led me to a table for 10, as this was the only open table at the time (about 1pm on a Thursday). I told her I'd be willing to move if a large party came in and needed the table, and she said no, make yourself comfortable. I told I'd be here for about 4 hours, and she said they were happy to host me for as long as I needed. The service was outstanding - they made me feel very welcomed and kept checking on me during my stay. As a single person taking up such a large table, I thought I'd feel awkward and selfish, but the waitstaff treated me like an honored guest. Many times, single people are wildcards for restaurants, and many times are seated at less-desirable tables or are asked to move to accommodate other diners (think about that for a moment and consider how you'd feel if you were asked to move to another table mid-meal just because you're a party of one). The management, hostess and waitstaff valued me as a human being and not just a ticket. I never once felt pressured or like an inconvenience. The food was outstanding as usual - I had a smaller appetites meal of pulled pork, collards, and Texas toast, and a few hours later, enjoyed a massive serving of creamy and delicious banana pudding. I read my ebook in peace and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I've loved the food at Haywood Smokehouse for 10 years and have never been disappointed, and the service has always been great, but the service that day was exceptional! I've eaten at the Dillsboro location as well, where the owners usually spend most of their time (we've become friends over the years), but I hadn't been back to the Waynesville location in several years, so I know I wasn't getting preferential treatment - the waitstaff and management of the Waynesville location are just 100% customer-focused. I left a tip commensurate with how wonderfully I'd been treated. HS is nationally-renowned for their menu, but for me, the service that day was the star - in fact, it was 5-star!

We absolutely love Haywood Smokehouse! Their hours are the only drawback I have seen. When you get there be prepared to wait! There is always a line. The restaurant is quite small but the service is fast. The bbq quesadillas are a must!
