We tried this restaurant on Thursday afternoon April 30, 2019. Since we've been cooped up and hadn't been out since Saturday, we went over to this spot for a take out lunch. WOW! Zaxby's, Raising Cane's, Popeye's, and KFC, all can go to the back of the line. The chicken fingers were seriously delicious. We had to drive from Cary, NC over to Durham and their food was worth every mile. This is the type of place that you'll have to fight yourself from going to to often. Though you'll be very tempted to. But, if I go to often, You may get bored with it. Then again, probably NOT.

We've been looking to try this spot for a while noting the reviews over the last year. We did notice, per the other yelp reviews, that it seems like management/quality has changed over the last few months. However, we went in with an open mind noting we wanted to try somewhere new for curbside pick up and support a small local food spot. My fiance and I both ended up ordering the "purity" chicken sandwich lunch meal with crinkle cut fries (it also comes with about 5-6 small hush puppy rounds). I will add the price alone is worth it for the amount of food you receive. In terms of quality, the chicken sandwich was yummy. It comes with the basics (so just chicken and a few pickles). I ended up adding ketchup and mustard to mine for a sauce. The hush puppies were BOMB. In an ideal world, i'd hope to switch out the hush puppies for the fries entirely. The crinkle cut fries were definitely on the greasy side and would agree with others that they tasted like they came from the freezer. However, noting the price and the quality of the chicken sandwich and hush puppies, i'd definitely come again, but would try and sub or pay an additional cost to eliminate the fries, and make it all hush puppies. I will add that the ordering process was a bit rough via phone, but it's also a weird time so I am giving some grace on that in terms of customer service. We were happy to be out of the house and eating a good meal from our car.

Looking for pretty decent chicken in Durham? Look no further. Their food has really good flavoring and is super filling. I'm not too familiar with the Durham area, but they seem to be in a tucked away spot, away from a lot of hustle and bustle. Consider it a hidden gem. Lots of seating inside, and they also have some tables outside. They also have a sauce bar with plenty of options! Only complaint was from my boyfriend, who said his Cali Style Sandwich was soggy - when we go back, he'll ditch anything with a bun and go straight for chicken tenders. The toppings and condiments might have been a bit too much for the bread they use. Overall, I can't wait to go back!

I had heard this was a good place. But i was very disappointed in the food. Nothing special or deluxe about my experience. I thought it was ordinary fried chicken. I won’t be back.

Ugh. Something about the vibe was off here. We went a few months ago and really enjoyed it, but something was really lacking last night. Service was sort of a mess--lady at the bar seemed to be having a rough day; same with the lady delivering food. Also, the line system here is kind of strange. You can sit at the bar, but can't really order from the bar? Maybe you can get drinks? Not totally clear there. The actual line itself is weird too--why is there only one register? Why have the online pickup register? There were like 20 people in one line, while the online order register was completely empty. The food itself? I mean we ate it and was fine. But again, something was just sort of lacking? Maybe the service sort of put us off a bit. Not sure if we'll give this another go, which is a shame because we want to love a spot like this, we really do. Chicken Hut and Beasleys still take the title, fam.

Came here to catch up with some friends for lunch. Being in Durham, I thought the parking would be really bad. But I arrived around 11:50am and managed to find a few open spots. Inside, it's quite spacious and it's got a very hip feel to it. It even has some outdoor seating in the front section facing the road. As for food, I actually ordered the calamari basket because I wanted to share it with others. The calamari was quite tasty and they give don't hold back with the portions either. For a side, I got the sweet potato fries. They were very crispy and also well seasoned. One really cool feature about this place is all of the dipping sauces that they provide. Next time I visit, I'll definitely have to try their chicken sandwiches.

I finally had a chance to stop into Deeluxe Chicken for a bite to eat. I came around 7:00 p.m on a Wednesday night. When I walked in through the door facing Broad St. I actually spent about 5-minutes at the cash register before someone came to ask if they could help me. It turns out that this was actually the pick-up side. I went over to the main side to place order and noticed that the menu was different from the photos online -- I snapped and updated the menu on Yelp. I went with the Deeluxe sandwich and 2 chicken wings. It took a good 15-minutes for my food to come out. As I waited, there was a good flow of customers who also came in. I also went and got 5-6 different sauce from the sauce bar. So...how was the food? Deeluxe Chicken Sandwich: I was disappointed because it looked overcooked. I could tell by the dark marks and crust. It was a little less than warm but not hot. The chicken was dry. The coleslaw and sauce helped it a little but not much. 2/5 in my opinion. The sandwich did not have the "TO DIE FOR" factor. It was just "meh...". Fries: Cold! Cold! Cold! So I waited for 15-minutes for cold fries? Common! If I had to wait that long for my food, I'm expecting at least fresh hot fries. Chicken Wings: This is a special that I saw through one of the photos on Yelp. The wings used to be $0.50, which is now $0.65. So was it worth that price point? NO! They were tiny wings, like ones from the frozen aisle of a grocery store. This one was really disappointed. Sauce: Honestly, they weren't that good. Almost like thick and watered-down not good. Quantity over quality for sure. Soft Serve Ice Cream: This was the best thing that I ate during my experience here. Customer Experience: OK -- seems like they were short on staff. The person working the bar was also trying to take orders. It was a bit chaotic. I almost left without getting ice cream since there was no one to take my order. I really think that this place has potential but there's a lot of work to be done if they want to continue to be a part of the growing Durham food scene.

"We're even open on Sunday!" The caveat is that they don't adequately hire or staff. Line was literally to the door and they had no one on the cash register for about 5 minutes. Either they didn't schedule enough people and refused to call someone in, someone called out and they refused to call someone in, or they didn't schedule enough or someone called out and they refused to hire enough people such that someone was available to be called in. Regardless of the cause, it's an incredible display of mismanagement. Won't be back here for a while, I hope they give me a reason to believe they can respect my time.

I stopped in here one day after grabbing some coffee at Joe van Gogh and was delightfully surprised. At first I thought I was about to get some run of the mill chicken place but they actually have some great fried Chicken. My chicken sandwich was nice and crunchy. I also asked for my pickles on the side and they gave me a whole helping of pickles on the side

I used to like this place a lot. There have been some changes that are not great though. - fries are different, not as crispy as they used to be and a different cut that makes this change more aparent. - no more jalapeno sauce or Peruvian sauce - house ranch now tastes like a low quality prepackaged product - no more toast with your meal - Mac and cheese is different.. not great - fried chicken quality has decreased, more dry - some prices on the menu have gone down by a few dozen cents almost as if to reflect this quality change, I'd rather pay 50 cents more than eat a subpar meal. I'm just really sad because this place used to be a serious contender for my favorite restaurant in Durham. This place used to have some of the highest quality fried chicken and most perfectly crisp french fries I've ever had; not so any more.

I asked the cashier if the duo platter would feed 2 people and she said yes. I also asked what sides were good besides fries (I already ordered fries) and she said fries. No smile, no care for my business and it really set the mood for the mediocre and small portioned servings of food. We had maybe 5 pieces of shrimp and one tiny catfish. The chicken tenders had zero flavor and an elementary school cafeteria could win in a blind taste test. I’ll only give this place 2 stars because the shrimp were big and had great flavor.
