Nice large room. Beds are comfortable. Good hot breakfast. I gave 4 stars because we chose this room with grandkids for the heated pool. Unfortunately it was frigid. The 2 yr. old loves to swim but turned blue so we had to get her out. As soon as the staff knew about it, they worked on it right away but too late for us to enjoy. They have a hot tub but everyone was in it so too crowded for our family. The staff are very welcoming and agreeable. I would probably go back and hope for the best with the pool.
We arrived and had a great experience.. the whole staff is nice and willing to help the room was great nice separate areas such as the mini livingroom and the separate toilet and sink from the shower..(No Interruptions) Bed Slept great...Complimentary Breakfast was good and filling amenities such as the hot tub and pool were good I didn't use the gym but it seemed to be great for the guest I saw using it
Nice hotel. Very clean. Staff was super accommodating. I called desk and asked for pillows and they were sent right up. I wanted to sleep after my doctor's appointment and no door card so I left a note for the maid and when I returned she had done my room up and left the do not disturb sign on my door and a note on the dresser telling me if there was anything else she could do for me all I had to do was ask. Great customer service. Disappointed in not getting complimentary water and snacks upon arrival since I am a club member, but I guess this particular site doesn't do that.
Really like this place. A bit cheaper than staying in Chapel Hill closer to UNC yet it's just a few miles down the road. The area has grown a lot and the hotel is pretty new. There are plenty of chain restaurants and shopping centers nearby. Rooms are clean and the breakfast is absolutely amazing. The best free breakfast I've ever had at a hotel by a long shot! They have a pancake machine that churns out pancakes at the touch of a button. My daughter and I were both impressed with that. I'll be coming back here and can recommend it without hesitation.
Called here a couple of weeks ago to find out some information about renting a banquet room. Mercedes was very helpful, super friendly, and very kind. Even though I didn’t end up needing the room after all because of the amazing customer service and being so willing to help me. I will consider them again in the future.
This hotel was super clean and immaculate! We stayed at this Springhill Suites following some outpatient surgery at Duke and were delighted with how comfortable and convenient the room was. There was a separate office area and even though we did not use the sofa bed, it was a very nice trundle bed that appears to be very comfortable looking, not a typical sofa bed. The shower room and the bathroom with the toilet and hand sink were in different areas, so it was a super efficient set-up for 2 people. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The area is superior with restaurants, shopping and a Starbucks. The staff was very helpful and allowed us an extended checkout on our last day.
This hotel exceeded expectations. It was a steal for the price. We would definitely recommend and stay here again. The hotel and rooms were immaculate...the beds were SUPER comfortable and the breakfast...many delicious choices. This was our first experience with a Springhill Suites hotel but it won't be our last.
Nice, place but they have two separate bathrooms and no fan (which is problematic). Great spread for breakfast and customer service. Look for plastic spoons and fork in the microwave.
Have stayed at this hotel twice, they have been outstanding both times. The price is very competitive, and the whole site is very clean. Highly recommended for the UNC/Duke area.
Honestly I was tired after a long trip. There were mix ups with my accommodations. I'm staying for seven days so I really needed it to be right. In stepped Manager Ron. He made every effort to sort this out. He even carried my luggage. Evidently he had been here about 12 hours on duty. He was the epitome of leadership. The property was relatively new. It was well maintained. Very odd shaped room with barn doors. The price made up for everything. Extremely reasonable especially for a holiday week!
A clean, modern, and overall fine motel however with a few seemingly unnecessary issues. For one, the design of the rooms is quite odd. The toilet and the rest of the bathroom meaning the main sink and bathtub are in separate rooms from each other I suppose so different people can use them at once but it's a very odd design and makes the whole room seem a little off-kilter. The sitting area is all right but the small area with the mini fridge and microwave also seems a bit odd how it's situated just inside the door. There's just something about the design and decor of the room that I did not really care for even though the room was quite large especially for ordinary room that's not even a suite. The staff is courteous although they seemed a bit disorganized during the complimentary breakfast and were not refilling the breakfast items as quickly as I would have expected and as usually I find at Hampton Inns and other hotels or motels of the same caliber or maybe even a step below.
Nice hotel. Clean and well maintained. Staff is also very nice and professional. Superior service!
Nice hotel, good sized rooms have separated sitting/office area. Free breakfast. Internet did not work very well. Friendly staff. Good exercise room.
Just want to express my appreciation to Eboni and Ken who both helped to make a special reservation for me during the holidays! Always love this place, and the staff is great. Thank you! :)
Very pleasant stay. We were in town for a wedding. The hotel was crowded but the staff was extremely attentive and kind. The gentleman at the front desk, Ken Hardy, is very friendly and helpful! The phone in our room wasn't working and they fixed it promptly. The pool area was clean and the hot tub was a welcome treat after a long day. The breakfast area stayed stocked. There were lots of options to satisfy everyone's needs.
They are currently remodeling the hotel. The room is beautiful and comfortable. They had fresh, hot coffee available when we checked in which was really nice. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the door to the bathroom is a sliding door. It looks very modern but because it is noisy it disturbs whoever is sleeping when you open and close it. Not practical. Other than that I would give it 5 stars.
Excellent location and facility. Clean and well run. I'd recommend!
Excellent value for your money. We stayed in a studio with two toddlers and everything was clean and comfortable. Free breakfast was a huge perk.
My sister and I thought the staff gave good service. Breakfast was nice and not on disposable plates that clog up landfills. However, they've designed the room so that the WC is right next to the bed. Oh, great, your companion can hear every poot and tinkle. The door is a pocket door, providing even less privacy, and has a huge window in it. When your companion needs to use it during the night the light slaps you awake. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
Great staff - rooms are very nice! Places to eat & shop close!
Great location ... new hotel ... staff are tremendous! Very helpful and kind! This is one of my favorite because if it close proximity to restaurants and shops . Within walking distance.
Stayed at the Springhill for 2 nights with my sister earlier this week and we loved this hotel. Everyone working there was so friendly and helpful. The employees made the place special. We enjoyed the hot tub and the pool and the courtyard in front of the hotel. Traveling with someone who has special needs can be challenging but everyone at this hotel went out of their way to help us and make our stay fun and easy. I’d return in a heartbeat and am very grateful to everyone there who made our visit so special.
We had a very nice stay .. Staff is very nice and very helpful. The layout of the rooms are very accommodating for families... and location is excellent, plenty of places to shop and dine.. when visiting Durham again will definitely stay here again !!
We enjoyed this hotel. Our room had a small sitting area with a long sofa & work station. The bathroom was split up - the toilet with a small sink was in one room & the tub with a large vanity was in a separate room. Between them was a walk in closet.. The free breakfast was good, with three kinds of eggs, a meat, & potatoes. There was a waffle maker (two on the weekend). There was also fresh fruit. Reception was very pleasant. All in all, a good place to stay. Prices were up when we were there, perhaps because of the Duke football game.
Americo at the breakfast each morning made my whole stay! He went out of his way to engage my autistic son and make sure we had what we needed. He was awesome! He layout of the room was perfect for us and the WiFi was excellent! Would not hesitate to stay again. Be sure to check out the Museum of Life and Science. It was also outstanding!
Though there seem to be plenty of positive reviews already, thought I should provide an up-to-date one. We are a 60s couple, retired, travel often for medical-related reasons. Selected this hotel based on price and location as well as brand reliability. We had a king room with sofa area separated by a divider. . . The room was so cold when we walked in that we shut off the thermostat and left it off the entire time, and the room stayed comfortable throughout, on a hot summer day.. . My wife was impressed with the room layout and spaciousness. Thing is, we didn't spend a minute in the sofa area. And because she forgot her make-up mirror, she wheeled the desk chair into the sink/shower area where the (only) large mirror is, in order to do her makeup. That created a congested situation in the sink/shower area, which is separate from the toilet compartment, which has a sliding door and is opposite the bed, not offering the best privacy.. . I think you can tell that I thought the layout was weird and a lot of the space in the front of the room seemed to go to waste. And too bad there isn't a mirror at that desk in the sofa area so that it could double as a makeup station -- instead there's a useless sliding panel so people in the bed can see people on the sofa, and vice versa, for some reason.. . Ebony at the front desk was friendly and gracious. The so-called bar didn't look like a cozy place to have a drink. Items were piled around, it looked like exactly what it was, a cramped breakfast nook. I can't comment on the complimentary breakfast because we decided to eat at the (very good) Carolina Coffee Shop in Chapel Hill about ten minutes away.. . My wife thought the bed was on the soft side. My review of the pillows is that there are better and there are worse. I would have liked more substantial ones but this is Spring Hill Suites.. . All in all, it is a very good, clean economy hotel. They could have made better design choices in the breakfast area and the room layout. If you are shopping on the basis of price and reliability, and leave it at that, it's a good choice (assuming there's a reason you want to be near 15-501 and I-40.). . Oh, last but not least, parking. The hotel shares at least some of its parking lot with other businesses in the strip mall, and signs are posted in places that say 60-minute parking between 9am and 5pm. While we didn't really have to walk far, the absence of dedicated parking for the hotel, and the concern about moving our car at 9am, was a small minus.
We really like Marriott SpringHill Suites in general. We enjoy the large rooms. This site has an indoor saltwater pool we all enjoyed, which has a whirlpool as well. The room we had featured a split bathroom, with a sink/toilet room and another room work a shower/sink. We really like this setup for somewhat obvious reasons. The comp breakfast was tasty, and there was something for everyone. We had a 2-queen suit with a family out 4 and didn't feel cramped at all. My only small complaint is that the sliding glass doors to both restrooms (which I love) didn't lock properly, and my 2 kids don't understand personal space. That minor inconvenience aside, we enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful hotel and very clean!! I would highly recommend this hotel if you are in the area! This is my first time staying here and it was worth every penny! Fast check and great staff!
This was one of my best stays ever; and I do quite a bit of traveling. Thank you Eboni Elm. SpringHill Suites are fortunate to have you on their staff.
Super Staff Ebony is Great
Stayed at this hotel mid June to help our daughter & family move to DC, Booked this hotel based on reviews & thought I would add to their excellent reviews. All 5 star posts are accurate, We were disappointed when we got notice, half way through our stay when we were told the pool would be closed for renovation. We had used this pool for stress relief after days of packing, After talking to the manager, he offered to move us to another Marriott property. We took him up on the offer. Our thanks & we will continue to reserve at Marriott properties.
Stayed here 6/19. Spacious clean rooms at a good price. Nice clean fitness room. Free hot breakfast. Excellent outdoor seating area. Well ok maybe 4.5 starts because to the pool is way too small.
Very nice and clean. Manager was very helpful. I'm currently staying tonight with them and so far has been great. Rooms are spacious and have a toilet in one side and shower on the other end. Reading lights on the beds. Extra large closet. Pool is small but good enough and nice hot tub
Very relaxing. Staff very friendly and accomadating. I lost an earring down the drain and they had maintenance retrieve it for me. Beds are comfortable and hotel is very clean. I would definitely stay there again.
Ron Hunter's staff at the DurhamSpringhillSuites provided my family with extensive kindness. My parents have vision loss and physical disabilities and Ron, the front desk staff, the evening manager, the custodians and the breakfast bar staff went out of their way to help us feel comfortable. When difficult news came down from Duke diagnostics, Cynthia at the bar was there to comfort me; Ebony helped copy my legal documents; the night staff agreed to call me at home if my parents needed me to rush back; they helped me load-unload my parents' rollators and treated us with dignity and kindness even when we were being picky. The breakfast bar, every day, was fresh, clean, delicious and the staff helped me balance a tray for three breakfasts. The layout in the room provided an apartment feeling while my parents and I stayed for three weeks. We used the jacuzzi and exercise room. Very clean. We were treated like family. These Durham hotel employees shined!
For starters - I'm a Marriott Bonvoy elite - so, rarely drift far from Marriott brands. This SpringHill Suites is pretty new and it shows. Clean, modern, great amenities. The front desk was friendly and welcoming. As a single traveler, the new layout with separate 'cabinet'-separate toilet and shower rooms works just fine me. Guess it can be awkward for shared-rooms. The location was very convenient for me with lots of food options and strip mall-style shopping and big box shopping nearby (Best Buy, Home Depot) - but, folks, forewarned, it is in the heart of the Durham-Chapel Hill carmageddon zone. Traffic along the US 15-501 corridor is AWFUL. Still - this was a great property and I'll stay there again.
As usual, staying at this hotel is like visiting family!! From the minute we checked in, Eboni made us feel welcome. She explained the renovations, and she explained why she chose our particular room. The breakfast choices are fantastic. The chef, Americo, is phenomenal! His selection is so varied that there is something for everyone. All food is cooked perfectly, and his variety of fruits taste like they have just been picked. He also makes sure that everyone has what they need and provides assistance, as needed.
Incredible staff! Clean rooms, great breakfast.
This is a superb hotel to stay at because of the super friendly staff and atmosphere. It makes you want to move in. I will definitely be back very soon
