This place is hit or miss, if you order during busier hours the food is always so fresh and not overcooked...during slow hours it's been a bit on the iffy side. We do come here about once every week or 2 and they are way better than some of the other Chinese places in the area.

I worked for several years in a Chinese restaurant in High Point, NC so I am used to Chinese-American food--it is not authentic but can be very tasty. China Moon reminds me of the old place. The food is plentiful, decent prices and the food is better than average for the Hickory area.

We were traveling on I-40 through Hickory and searched Google maps for a restaurant. We made the short trip over to the China Moon. This place seems to be primarily a take-out restaurant, but there were a couple of tables so we decided to eat in.The General Tso’s Chicken was very good and the Shrimp and Vegetables in Garlic Sauce were tasty but light on the garlic. The vegetable rice was delicious, probably one of the best I’ve had.

Food is under cooked and the chicken wings are just breaded bones no meat. Fries were so rubbery I could use them as a basket ball. Ribs were still raw in the middle . Never order from this place again!!!!!!!

Delicious . Called 15 min before close & the person who took our order was so nice . General tsos & 2 orders of lo mein . If you want greasy addicting food for dinner they got you . Pretty huge portions at about $23 fed us twice . ?
The only place in Hickory with the BEST pork dumplings!!! Ask for a side of the chili oil to mix with the dumpling sauce. Our go to place for Chinese food.

I'm 45 years old, Asian, we owned Chinese restaurants in My teen years. Not a run down one either; anyway, I ordered a large shrimp fried rice, order chicken wings And orange chicken, when we started eating the rice, it was soggy and not all the way cook the shrimp is clear white in translucent looks, the orange chicken was not crispy as usual and was not hot, and I live five minutes from this restaurant, it ruined our dinner. I was upset, so I called the restaurant to let them know what happened, well they told me that they would replace the shrimp fried rice. I called in and ordered this very last time, as they would return my shrimp fried rice; I told them to replace one without shrimp. When I arrived, the lady owner opened my food up and said to me that I should double-check them before I left the restaurant. Honestly, I threw away the orange chicken and large order of fried rice, and she thought I was a bummer; I did not accept my food because she did not have her glove and mask on while opening up my food and the attitude towards me with Their unprofessional works. I know for a fact that Chinese restaurants cook their fried rice and put them in a rice cooker for the lunch special, but if they are slow at lunchtime, some places will mix those with any order that is call-in later, and that is their biggest mistake. I would not come back to this place.

This is my absolute favorite Chinese food. I used to drive 30 minutes to eat their food. Tonight I ordered a small chicken with garlic sauce no veggies and one egg roll. I got there and since I love the place I just let a few things slide… she forgot to charge for the egg roll, that’s fine, we added it. I step to the side to look inside the box briefly and and I see there’s veggies so I close it and tell her and she said I asked for no veggies and I said that’s correct and it took her a second to realize what I meant… thats ok too. I told her everything was fine. I get home and there’s no garlic sauce on the chicken ?? I didn’t notice this at the restaurant. If you eat there then you know the picture doesn’t look like the normal order. I’m so sad. Normally the whole bottom is covered in sauce and I use it for my rice. It literally taste to bland.
