We tried to go here Saturday afternoon. Seem like the place was run down, ghost town and or abandoned.

Stopped in here for lunch while traveling and was overwhelmed by how great the food was. The prices were low and the portions large at this authentic Jamaican restaurant. If you are in this area you cannot afford to miss out on this menu.

The food was amazing. Ox tails were some of the best I've ever had. Tender and spiced just right. Had rice and beans went perfect with the tails. Also had green beans they were excellent also. Wife had curry chicken also good. She got a small and could not eat it all. Will definitely go back.

Heading south on 95 from Washington DC the Virginia highway was dotted with signs to Rocky Mount, NC. Out of curiosity, I planned to have lunch there. It was a ghost town of a decadent past. A once thriving main street was replaced by remnants of a picture perfect town. I didn't see any place to eat in the down town area. The restaurant I programed in my GPS was shut down. In my car I drove around a few street. TASTE OF PARADISE had parking. It was busy. Guests included police, painters, families, and those on foot. The atmosphere was old and seemed run-down. But wouldn't that indicate that all the focus was on the food? I will answer "yes it is". The cooler had unmarked beverages, but I had seen bottles without labels at many other vendors and restaurants in the south. They were out of TING. The portions were huge. I tried a basic meal of rice and j*** chicken. The menu consisted of goat, turkey, chicken, and oxtails. I was impressed with the variety of side dishes. There is an outward display of Christianity. This authentic Jamaican eatery is a treasure in Rocky Mount.
