My father and I purchased a slice of the Lemon Berry, Coconut, and the Chocolate Cake. All of them were outstanding! Also tried chocolate chip cookie, brownie, and cinnamon rolls which were all to die for. They also have a bunch of assorted Knick knacks for sales as well as pizza and other snacks.

Our son was doing his Appalachian State University orientation \u0026 we explored. Someone said, “check out Todd!” We took the drive through rolling landscapes, beautiful rural roads that led us to this tiny, historical spot. Todd Mercantile has some interesting blend of old and new items \u0026 a bakery too! There was a sweet young lady running this tiny, charming store. The next time you are near Boone, take the drive. It’s definitely an adventure. Kick back and enjoy some coffee and treats. Nearby there appeared to be a kayak rental place and someone said there is a restaurant. Go explore!

Ok, you must go inside, look around and then buy a piece of cake. We ordered lemon blueberry, coconut cream and fresh strawberry. The best cake you will have eaten. Also purchase the sour dough bread. The started has been continuously made since 1847. And it's good. A gem of a place

Sourdough bread, sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and the brownie were all great. It was fun to look around the store. They had local crafts, art, baked goods, and vintage clothes. The staff was awesome to talk to and helpful.

Great molasses cookies! Scones are good, brownies very good too. Adorable old store with nice locals. Worth the stop for sure.
Best little country store in North Carolina. Bakery items are delicious. Scones make you smile in the morning they are so good. The apple walnut cake is the very best I’ve ever had (extra moist). And I could go on. Everything in the bakery is simply wonderful. Definitely a stop when in the Boone/Blowing Rock area.

Amazing people and the baked goods don’t even get me started they are so good!!! Cinnamon buns and brownies are the best ever. We love the fun gifts and locals shirts and artwork in this store. We stop here every chance we get. This business is part of what Todd, NC is all about. Good people. Caring people. We love the Mercantile!!!

I've been enjoying this backery for many years but will never step foot in there ever again. I was told I could not enter without a mask by a lady speaking with a two men. All three had no masks. We watched in shock as the three talked close together with no mask after she refused to let us enter with no mask. We then went to the Riverside Restaurant and were welcomed. We spent our well earned money there instead.

Though I left a 5 star review several years ago, I did want to mention what a fantastic place this is. I've been coming to Todd for 5 years and every time I make AT LEAST one visit to the Mercantile with whomever I'm with. A few months ago, I came to Todd with several dozen friends. A few weeks before I contacted the owner to tell her I was bringing up a large group and she made sure her display case was well stocked for all of us. And she continued baking to ensure we were all fed with some of the best cinnamon rolls and cookies you'll find anywhere. And plenty of coffee too. If you're in the area you are missing out on a hidden gem. From the baked goods to the jellies and jams to the local arts ands crafts, this store is completely charming!
