My friend and I read the review in Salt Magazine and thought we'd check it out. We loved our dinner. The atmosphere is not that great, but we thought it was fun. We had golden margaritas and they were nice and strong and delicious! Our server was very friendly, service was great. Pupusas were yummy. Don't know the name of the entree we shared, but it was GREAT! It was a heated lava rock pot. On the bottom was spicy salsa verde. Can I be honest with you? The pupusas here are really fantastic. Generously filled with your choice of pork, cheese, bean, or a mix, La Kumbala's pupusas are authentic and delicious... and reasonably priced. When I mean reasonably priced, I really mean it. For only $2.50 per pupusa, you can experience your imaginary Salavadoran grandmother's home country without leaving North Carolina... and oh, you should. The food here is great, including the papusas. Tucked into another strip mall, it doesn't look like much from the outside. But the guacamole, papusas and tamales are excellent. Fresh ingredients, good service and rumor had it they will be doing salsa lessons soon. This place is worth the trip!
