This was a lovely find in Bismark! Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable, the cocktails were superb, the entrees cooked to perfection (especially the walleye), and the desserts super yummy! Such a gem!

Showed up on a Saturday night without a reservation expecting to wait for a table. We were pleasantly surprised to be seated within 10 minutes! As always the food was delicious! I had the chicken pot pie which was the perfect meal on a chilly rainy evening. Everything was amazing. The rubarbtini is a must!

We are regulars at Pirogue Grill and love the atmosphere and food. We tried to make reservations for tonight, and the lady taking reservations over the phone said they could do 5pm (booked up), which I said would be perfectly fine, since my wife likes to eat early anyway. She kept asking whether we would make 5pm, since there was a 7pm scheduled for that table, and I replied that it would work. For some reason she started to get angry with me. I guess she must have not understood me or thought I was insincere. ?? She said we couldn’t have the reservation, over my requests of “Maam, I believe there’s been some misunderstanding..”, and then she cut me off in mid conversation and hung up on me! I’m utterly shocked and saddened that such an elegant and favorite place of ours would do that to somebody. Good bye, Pirogue Grill. :-(

Finding a nice restaurant in Bismarck, North Dakota is not easy. If you’re in Bismarck, and looking for a restaurant with a little bit of atmosphere and good food, this is the one.We ran into some gentleman and chefs on the street walking into a restaurant. when we asked if they had a menu we could look at one of them said “yup posted outside, just like in the big city“We checked out a few other places, but ended up going back to pirogue. We were very glad we did. We made contact with the chef who we had spoken to earlier and found out. He was the owner “Stewart“. He came out and spoke with us for quite a while, and had an interesting background. We had an excellent meal , my girlfriend had the walleye which was tremendous and I had the bison Medallions, which were excellent. Both were served with a browned barley and very good seasonal vegetables.I was server was Andie and she was so nice. All in all an excellent restaurant.

I had a NY steak and it was done medium rare and seasoned just right. It was a delicious cut of meat. My wife had a wonderfully tender pork chop.Others had salmon and Parmesan crusted walleye and all said the maid dishes were very good. The atmosphere was ok not anything spectacular. The service was a little inattentive but overall good. The server had a couple mis-steps I noticed but others didn’t. There is room for improvement in placers but it is nit picking stuff. This is a really good place. Also, we didn’t get dessert as we were very full after a leisurely dinner and drinks. It was really good.
