Every day is a good day to be in Hague, but Thursday is German day, and one can say again that every day can be German day in Hague but I digress.. this spot has some of the best knoephla soup on the prairie, and I'd climb mountains, or at least a really steep hill for their cheese buttons.

My husband and I felt a little out of place at this very small town everyone knows everyone place. But wow, our hamburgers were so fresh and good, like you made them at home. It was well worth the little bit of driving off the main highway 3.5 miles. There is a beautiful old Catholic Church too in this town.

This little place served me the best Reuben sandwich I’ve had in years, maybe ever. Delicious!!

You never know how it's going to be spelled, but Knoephle are the litmus test for eating establishments in German-Russian Country. We got a good representation of the noodly dumplings in bowl of Knoephlesuppe at the Hague Cafe. Other items plated for an early supper also were good. The place was quiet on a Saturday night; most of the action seemed to be at the bar across the strreet, which was fine. The truth is, since the construction of the new building, the Hague Cafe never has recaptured the cache it possessed in the old place. Since then the establishment has opened, closed, opened again, and had its tribulations. Service rather inattentive tonight. We can hope that as we come out of the COVID era, heritage tourism will resurge in German-Russian Country and join with resurgent local patronage to restore the public standing of the place.
