It's the epitome of vegetarian fine dining in NYC.I will preface my review by stating that I have not grown up in the fine dining realm; there is probably some level of "appreciation" that I lack. That being said, the food here is great. Presentation, creativity, flavor experience are all on point. However, I couldn't justify the price for the food. I think if you are very curious and want to knock it off your bucket list OR you are someone into fine dining then this is perfect. Otherwise, there are restaurants that I think you get much better bang for your buck for in NYC.”

“It was a beautiful spring day as I was welcomed into the bar area which is fairly large. Many people were there due to st Patrick’s day. The bartender greeted me and I was fortunate enough to meet the owner through a buddy of mine. The beer was nice and cold and the people were friendly. Found a table outside with two young ladies and my bud. We shared frozen margaritas and then they put 90s hip hop and r&b.. my favorite. The sun was setting so we had to go. Highly recommend for a chill night out, will definitely try the food next time!”

She recommended the Filet, and I got it.Noticed there were Pommes Aligot on the menu and had to have it. I’ve only had this once in my life and had made it myself. It’s a PITA. It had the texture of duck but mainly just tastes like regular bulgogi.Corn creme brulee was sweet but overly sweet with a minimal corn flavor and some corn bits at the bottom.Service:9/10The waitress helping us get seatted for our rsvp were accomodating with grtting a seat closer to the wall vs the aisle.Our waiter was informative and had great sense when asking if we wanted to take any pictures/videos before mixing the Al bap for us.Also advising both of us to get two dishes before we ordered was helpful.Before peak hours, the atmosphere was pleasant. But, the tables are very close together and when its packed during peak hours it can be challenging speaking to one another due to the level of noise/conversation.”

“I really like this restaurant! The food is high quality and the experience is fine dining but fun/relaxed.The menu is composed of bits of familiar recipes with Korean twists and French culinary techniques. There’s galbi, squid ink fried rice, uni, and mäd toast (which sounded monstrous but I didn’t get to try it this time) plus much more. I liked that the menu is small-sized and minimalist with clearly labeled snacks, little colds, hots, mains, extras, and desserts (menu is posted outside the entrance and on website). The current menu that started in mid-March has snacks/appetizers such as spicy yellowtail tart, beef tartare, fried shiitake mushroom rice balls (I think?, it’s labeled as mushroom arancini on the menu), pork head katsu, and scallion buns with unique sauces on the side ($20 per person, either no one or everyone orders). I tried the mushroom tempura with onion dip too! Everything was elegantly and adorably plated. Our server explained what’s what and suggested how to best enjoy some dishes. They have a really extensive drinks menu (many pages), complete with your usual offerings and their own unique cocktails, rice alcohol, maekgeolli, and even alcohol free cocktails woohoo! Not sure if all of the ice cubes for the alcoholic drinks are engraved with the restaurant’s name and logo but ours were and I thought that was a really cool and personal touch.An equally important part of my dining experience was the atmosphere and service. The staff are attentive, frequently filling glasses low on water and folding napkins when you step away. They also keep the music bopping and adjust their playlists. The lighting is a little dim and the interior is ‘cool club’ vibes but for a slightly more sophisticated audience. It’s a place to come in casual or dressed up a little for fun. It’s best for smaller groups of 1-4 I think based on seating arrangements but they seem to be able to accommodate slightly larger groups at some bigger tables and in the back room. Expect to pay $50-$100 if you get one item from each category on the menu and a drink. Probably $100+ if you get more or multiple drinks. The bar area in the back is across from the kitchen, which might be cool to peek at to see some staff members curating orders.I like that it’s on a quieter block in ktown area. The price range and location filters out loud and teen crowds, so it feels like a great place for young adults and Millenials to catch up or go on a date. It’s a place to sit down and chat while you savor small bites and wait on more food to arrive, so you’ll probably need like 1.5-2 hours if you’re going for a natural relaxed pace. I also saw a family of 5 enjoying dinner together here. Lastly, this is random but the hand soap is heavenly. I can’t wait to see what other menus they craft!!Dietary restrictions: They will ask about dietary restrictions and can modify recipes. If you don’t eat certain ingredients/foods, they can omit snacks too and adjust the price for you accordingly.”

It’s cozy, comfortable and you can see some of the kitchen action as well as chat with fellow diners. The chef came out and helped us pick out a great bottle of wine. I use a wheelchair, which is what first attracted me to going to Contento. I appreciate feeling included. But I have recommended the place to friends and the next time I’m in New York I look forward to going back.”

“So I am not a local New Yorker but I often come up from DC to visit. My main goal when visiting New York however is discovering and devouring delicious food. That being said, my friends and I spent a long weekend in East Village partying it up till 6am each night! I still can't believe we did that. But in the midst of our late night partying, we would stop to refuel by grabbing a deli sandwich at this small bodega. You walk in and there is a wall full of colorful signs describing multiple types of sandwiches you can order. All looked spectacular but on the first night I ordered "The Biden". All the ingredients spoke to me and man what a sandwich! The flavor explosion was incredible with sun dried tomatoes and avocado on a croissant. I forget what my buddies got but they were raving about them too. The next night I got a meatball sub with grilled onions and once again I was in Heaven. We all were. So please keep this small business going strong and check out their sandwiches. All across their walls they have photos with celebrities so clearly they are popular. Thank you Sunny and Annie! Your food was one of the best highlights of our trip.”

Everything was delicious. We ordered pork Katsu and the citrus marinated chicken, Gnocchi w Duck Ragu for dinner which were also well prepared and accompaniments were flavorful. Part of our dinner was the charred octopus appetizer. This dish was quite overcooked and chewy. The sauce on the side was the only way we got through the plate. In retrospect we should have sent the item back as it was an expensive selection but we did not want to be rude. This was also unexpected as our other choices were tasty so we did not know how to deal with this miss. All in all this dish was a disappointment. Staff was friendly, vibe was nice and the restaurant was quite full on a Sunday evening. We noticed a gentleman watching over the dining room and I am guessing that was to make sure patrons were either well taken care of or not over staying.”

“We came across this restaurant from a viral social post and didnt have any expectations honestly. The food was EXCELLENT and it had been a while since we’ve said that about a trending restaurant in NYC. We started with the wings that were some of the best wings I’ve ever had ( they serve it piping with a side of soaked towels to wash your hands) and the bone marrow was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Served on the bone with a side of buttery toast to place the marrow on and a delicious onion jam that sealed the deal. Then we had their famous burger with bacon and egg and it did not disappoint and a shaved prime rib that was AMAZING with a side of bacon Mac and cheese (we came hungry lol). Finished with the chocolate cream pie and key lime pie that sent us. Now the food was amazing but I have to say our server Ariana was what made our overall experience a 10/10. She was the BEST server we have experienced in a long time. She was so friendly, outgoing, and perfectly attentive and really made our night extra special to be honest. WE WILL BE BACK!”

“I really like this restaurant! The food is high quality and the experience is fine dining but fun/relaxed.The menu is composed of bits of familiar recipes with Korean twists and French culinary techniques. There’s galbi, squid ink fried rice, uni, and mäd toast (which sounded monstrous but I didn’t get to try it this time) plus much more. I liked that the menu is small-sized and minimalist with clearly labeled snacks, little colds, hots, mains, extras, and desserts (menu is posted outside the entrance and on website). The current menu that started in mid-March has snacks/appetizers such as spicy yellowtail tart, beef tartare, fried shiitake mushroom rice balls (I think?, it’s labeled as mushroom arancini on the menu), pork head katsu, and scallion buns with unique sauces on the side ($20 per person, either no one or everyone orders). I tried the mushroom tempura with onion dip too! Everything was elegantly and adorably plated. Our server explained what’s what and suggested how to best enjoy some dishes. They have a really extensive drinks menu (many pages), complete with your usual offerings and their own unique cocktails, rice alcohol, maekgeolli, and even alcohol free cocktails woohoo! Not sure if all of the ice cubes for the alcoholic drinks are engraved with the restaurant’s name and logo but ours were and I thought that was a really cool and personal touch.An equally important part of my dining experience was the atmosphere and service. The staff are attentive, frequently filling glasses low on water and folding napkins when you step away. They also keep the music bopping and adjust their playlists. The lighting is a little dim and the interior is ‘cool club’ vibes but for a slightly more sophisticated audience. It’s a place to come in casual or dressed up a little for fun. It’s best for smaller groups of 1-4 I think based on seating arrangements but they seem to be able to accommodate slightly larger groups at some bigger tables and in the back room. Expect to pay $50-$100 if you get one item from each category on the menu and a drink. Probably $100+ if you get more or multiple drinks. The bar area in the back is across from the kitchen, which might be cool to peek at to see some staff members curating orders.I like that it’s on a quieter block in ktown area. The price range and location filters out loud and teen crowds, so it feels like a great place for young adults and Millenials to catch up or go on a date. It’s a place to sit down and chat while you savor small bites and wait on more food to arrive, so you’ll probably need like 1.5-2 hours if you’re going for a natural relaxed pace. I also saw a family of 5 enjoying dinner together here. Lastly, this is random but the hand soap is heavenly. I can’t wait to see what other menus they craft!!Dietary restrictions: They will ask about dietary restrictions and can modify recipes. If you don’t eat certain ingredients/foods, they can omit snacks too and adjust the price for you accordingly.”

I use a wheelchair, which is what first attracted me to going to Contento. I appreciate feeling included. “Let me start off by saying, if you want to complain about prices, don't even walk in the door. To get the optimal experience at any restaurant, you have to pay to play. So expect to spend about $70-100 per person here, this is a spot you take someone on a knock-it-out-of-the-park date or group gathering, you can't be a cheapskate. Now, to the food. Vietnamese BBQ is an intimate experience. Order the 7 course beef so you can try everything while the staff explains and helps you cook your meat. The electric grills are of the highest quality, the same ones they use at high-end Japanese yakiniku places, so the smoky taste on your cooked beef will be perfect. If you want to order a la carte, I highly recommend the Tomahawk, Madame Prawns and Charred Uni. Like I said, this is a place where you share your meal with friends and family so all the food is portioned that way.”

Everything was delicious. We ordered pork Katsu and the citrus marinated chicken, Gnocchi w Duck Ragu for dinner which were also well prepared and accompaniments were flavorful. Part of our dinner was the charred octopus appetizer. This dish was quite overcooked and chewy. The sauce on the side was the only way we got through the plate. In retrospect we should have sent the item back as it was an expensive selection but we did not want to be rude. This was also unexpected as our other choices were tasty so we did not know how to deal with this miss. All in all this dish was a disappointment. Staff was friendly, vibe was nice and the restaurant was quite full on a Sunday evening. We noticed a gentleman watching over the dining room and I am guessing that was to make sure patrons were either well taken care of or not over staying.”

Every staff member was polite, friendly , attentive, and efficient. They made our guests feel at home. The food was delicious and ambience was nice. It is really a good place to bring friends out.”

“We were trying to find a great place to get a steak, but didn’t want to hit the major chain restaurant. Gallaghers hit the spot. The moment you walk through the door you can see into a meat pantry where all of their steaks are aging. The server recommended the Porterhouse for 3 as well as a ribeye. We took his recommendations. They were excellent. It was a ton of meat since the portions are very good, but we finished it all. My favorite of it all was the filet portion of the porterhouse. If I were to come back, I would probably order a bone-in filet instead. The lobster cocktail was a good appetizer, the onion rings are nice and sweet, and the wedge salad was good too.”

So i went with a Von Trapp Dunkel Lager from Vermont. Tasty. Cecil told me he worked there for 20 years and theyve never offered even one italian beer.Started off with the Carpaccio! Not easy to find these days.Ordered the Osso Buco alla Becco. Its the house specialty. It comes with a house Ceasar Salad. Between the arugula on the Carpaccio and the Ceasar salad, I ate a month's worth of ruffage I nomally consume!The Osso Buco did not disappoint. Delicioso!”

“The food here is incredible! The pork belly appetizer was the most tender pork I've ever had. I'm not into creamed spinach but this was so good. It tasted like a mixture of basil and spinach and not overly creamy. The mac and cheese was great and so was the ceasar salad. I had the strip steak with the bone marrow gravy which is a highly recommend. Food was so good that I forgot to take pictures. Bring your wallet because you are paying for quality and it does not disappoint.”
“Wow, wow, wow. A friend steered us here for lunch. We had no idea what kind of restaurant it was, and though it looked nice, there was nothing indicating that the food would be great. Yet it was. The tomato soup was very good. The fried calamari was light and crispy, and the addition of sesame was a flash of genius. Really wonderful. We waited about 50 minutes to be seated, because of a mic up with a host, but the staff was apologetic and brought us complimentary champagne and an app . Despite that hiccup, Buddakan was an incredible experience!”

I got the bento box for $22, which consists of a choice between soup or salad, chicken teriyaki, and a choice of hand roll or Maki. I got the shrimp tempura Maki style. Portions were perfect for lunch. The ambiance of this place is Instagram worthy. I'd definitely return for happy hour.”
“We did not get any food but I’m sure it’s amazing. The service and atmosphere in this place is off the charts awesome. Kitty is the absolute best. We walked in without a reservation and they got us in right away and everyone was so helpful finding us a drink that we would like. Their menu is huge so that was a big help. This is a must stop for anyone that loves cool Polynesian bars, (they also talk about how they’re trying to build on the experience of tiki, and acknowledge that tiki is appropriated and they are trying to improve and pay homage to it). “Everything was quite good from the food, to the atmosphere to the service. We liked the foie gras, to the sea bass, and wonderful bread. The butter potato ravioli but was a little over the top with carbs and fat. A nice cheese filling or anything else would have been better. The mango pineapple dessert was refreshing and pretty perfect. The service was top notch, and the room was extraordinary.”
“Loved this place. You walk in and you instantly feel invited. I loved the decor made you feel like you are eating at home. The service was impeccable not hovering but there any time we needed anything, with waiter, maitre D, and Chef all checking in on us. We started with the Cesare Cups loved the take on it. The Scallops crudo was sweet and tender and topped with a lovely portion of caviar. The baked oysters yummy. Portions are definitely ample. Then we had the oxtail trofie. The oxtail just melted with each bite of pasta. And finally came out the roasted duck. It may have been my favorite duck breast ever. So tender and flavorful. The veggies that it came with added to the flavor perfectly. I will go back just for that. The only disappointment was the chocolate mousse but the chef brought out some delicious chocolate chip cookies so nothing missed. Highly recommend checking this one out”

“"Tapas-style" Korean menu in a location perfect for a pre-theatre dinner! The raw scallop, bossam, and kimchi fried rice were all super flavorful and delicious. The only complaint I had was for the cheese corn riblets - they just quartered the corn cobs for this dish so you still have to bite the corn off the cob section, instead of just cutting the kernels off into riblets like most restaurants do. Makes it messier than necessary. The $16-18 bottles of Kikusui sake on the menu are a definite plus!”
