DQ Will Bring Back 2 1990s Fan Favorites
2017 appears to be a revival of the 1990s style and look- fashion, shoes, hairstyles, toys, etc. Add Dairy Queen's treats to the list of things making a comeback. The company brought back the Treatzza Pizza May 22 and will bring back its Misty Slush June 26.
American Dairy Queen Corporation Executive Vice President of Marketing Barry Westrum said there's been a revival of the 1990s style and the company's 90s fan favorites were the Misty Slush and Treatzza Pizza. He said the company had repeatedly been asked to offer them again. So, they obliged.
The Treatzza Pizza launch is on the eve of the unofficial summer kick-off. The Treatzza Pizza comes in Reese's, Choco Brownie, Heath and M&M's. The crush is a fudge cookie crunch, hand-made, with the company's signature vanilla soft serve, with a chocolate drizzle and candy pieces. Similar to traditional pizza, the Treatzza Pizza is cut to serve up to eight people.
The motivation that brought for the Treatzza Pizza were consumers looking for a smaller size cake that goes well for any occasion. Today, consumers are celebrating for just about anything. 47% of cake purchases goes for events that don't relate to birthdays; 48% take place before the actual day. The Treatzza Pizza is a grab-and-go treat at a low price.
The Misty Slush will have a permanent mark on the DQ Summer menu. It comes in various flavors of Cherry, Grape, Blue-Raspberry, Lemon-Lime and Strawberry-Kiwi. The Misty Slush, which was known as Mr. Misty in the 80s and 90s, gives tribute to the company's heritage.
