Red Robin's Golden Robin and Golden Brew-Off Award Winners Announced
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews announced the winners of their Golden Robin Award and the Golden Brew-Off award.
Florida International University students Given Suman's 305 Burger (Golden Robin Award winner) and Adam Yudorich and Mauricio Fischer's IPArin brew (Golden Brew-Off award winners) will be showcased with Red Robin during the Schweid & Sons' Heineken Light Burger Bash hosted by Rachel Ray on Feb. 24.
Red Robin Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President Jonathan Muhtar said for five years, FIU students have constantly inspired the brand's culinary team and they are proud to carry on with the scholarship tradition. He said Given's burger and the boys' brews would be included in the lineup for Burger Bash attendees to try.
The Golden Robin award is a part of the yearly partnership the restaurant has with FIU's Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management and the Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival.
The 2017 competition challenged students to come up with a gourmet burger in an effort to win a $10,000 scholarship. They will also serve the burger during Burger Bash and see it possibly added to the restaurant's menu. The 305 Burger is an amalgamation of the classic American burger and the fabulous zests seen on a Cuban sandwich. The sandwich includes Swiss cheese and thin-cut smoked ham that comes with mango-infused mustard dill pickle chips.
In a display to show its pledge to brews, the company teamed up with the FIU's Brewing Science class to come up with the Golden Brew-Off. This first-time competition encouraged students to use their classroom knowledge to come up with homebrew recipes to attain a $2,500 scholarship. Yudorich and Fischer came up with the India Pale Ale-style beer mixed with mandarin orange peel, earning them the prize. Besides splitting it, they will get to pour samples at the Red Robin tent.
During the Burger Bash event, Red Robin will hand out its fifth annual Best of the Bash Award to a deserving chef. Marc Summers, a television host, will be a celebrity judge for the competition and help to choose the next recipient of the company's award. The winner will get a $10,000 check with their award-winning burger possibly appearing on the restaurant's burger menu.
