Simmons To Open Family-Friendly Restaurant In November
Many celebrity restaurants that set up shop in Sacramento tend to close their doors within a few years - think Guy Fieri and Sammy Hagar. However, those restaurants didn't have the kind of fire that another singer plans on bringing to a restaurant.
Gene Simmons, the frontman for the popular band KISS, is a co-founding partner for the Rock & Brews casual dining chain. The restaurant is set to open In November. The restaurant, which began in 2012 in El Segundo, sports a 50+ beer selection and pub-style food and a rock 'n' roll ambiance.
Simmons said going into Rock & Brews will be like going into a party already in effect. He said people will be surrounded by classic rock, pop culture and other things. He said there will be Jimi Hendrix playing as well as Bruce Springsteen and even KISS.
Simmons made a point to say that the restaurant will be family-friendly.
Paul Stanley, Simmons' bandmate, decided to join in on the action at Rock & Brews.
Simmons said Stanley saw how much he was having and decided to jump into the business himself. Both are likely to be there when the Rock & Brews restaurant opens in Vacaville.
According to Jon Mesko, the franchisee of Rock & Brews and the Vacaville project said both men are brilliant businessmen. Mesko said it was Stanley that helped design the business.
Mesko said he picked the Vacaville area because the area came across as "underserved," and he didn't want to construct the restaurant from scratch. He said the restaurants will have an array of beer taps and local offerings with comfort food such as hot dogs, chicken wings and Bavarian pretzels with cheese.
Simmons said the restaurant will have something for everybody on the menu - from people who don't care about the calories to people who are watching their weight. Simmons appears to be one of the latter groups, enjoying a kale salad recently.
