“Lovely space. All recently refurbished old tavern and inn right next to Crotched ski area. Beautiful views. Good food at a very reasonable price. The fresh salad ingredients and dressing were delicious! Best I've ever eaten. Wish I'd taken a photo. Maybe next time.“

“Stark House Tavern, the local watering hole. The only place where I can hate every ingredient in something and end up liking it (M-80s). The "North of the Border" tots? Immaculate. Imagine munchkins except they're mashed potatoes in a shell of deliciousness, smothered in gravy and cheese curds. Angels sing every time a plate of them gets put in front of me. The burgers? Perfect. As long as you dont order it well done like a buffoon.

My only gripe with this place is that it's not big enough but that's okay because they serve you beer in the "waiting room", which is enough to shut me up about waiting. Way better than the doctors office waiting room. My second only gripe is that I wish they had more options for Sours and Ciders, cause I love them and there's usually only 1 or 2. This is a "me" problem because I'm at Stark more than I'd like to admit, and get bored easily. They do have a good selection of Stouts, Porters and IPAs, which are essentially jet fuel in my humble opinion. The servers are also super nice! (yes I just left there a few hours ago).“

“Always great classic American comfort food, with some creative specials tossed in. Service has always been top notch, but on those crazy nights staff can get a little over whelmed, never bad service just slower than usual. Never had a bad meal or a bad drink. The French Onion soup is very good, the very rare special,Cabbage Roll Soup is incredible!!!! I could go there for just that. The soup of the day soup specials are always a highlight for me, and a good way to try something you have never had before. The building once was a sock factory there old photos and artifacts from its past on the walls. Its Hillsboro's best eatery for sure, and one of the best in the area. Call ahead its always busy, But worth the wait.“
