Pretty ordinary food. They first ask you for money. All items were cold and tasteless. Babycorn nuggets were horrible chewy. Wada shape was as if made by a fifth grader. The staff serving in the banana leaf section asked me to wait for other family (not connected to me) to come before they could serve me food. A soup kitchen serving homeless people has better ambiance.

Always gotten take out from here and my go-to order is the fish fry (king fish/pomfret). The fish is lightly coated with spices and fried, reminiscent of something I had growing up. Pairs great with steaming white rice. I haven't tried their other fare but it's very pocket friendly and I know some people who swear by it.

After believing we were headed to a Chettinad South Indian buffet for lunch, we found that Amma's Kitchen has taken over the Location. We were not disappointed

Went for dinner on a Saturday. The location is in Edison, where we have many options for Indian food. My family likes Southern Indian cuisine so this place was it for us. We liked the food we tried (banana leaf).

I was extremely disappointed in the experience at this location of Amma's Kitchen. I cannot give this place a single star. In terms of the food, we only tried the parottas with chicken curry and goat curry. The parottas tasted stale, as if they had reheated frozen parottas and both curries were just salty with absolutely no flavor. In terms of the ambiance, the cleanliness was questionable. It is located in a plaza with a shared space with other vendors. There is dust all over the floor and the tables are "self clean." I saw a group of people leaving a table and it wasn't cleaned by anyone before another family sat down. In addition, there were countless people walking through the main area with onion bags and sacks of vegetables. The service was actually decent. I had no complaints about the workers there - they were pleasant and the food was out in a timely fashion.

Visited the restaurant for South Indian Style food. This is not a fine dining place. If you want to enjoy food in a quiet and peaceful environment, this is not where you would want to go.The place is just equivalent to the price point. We were made to sit near the entrance which was really uncomfortable during busy holiday lunch time. Too many people were waiting to be seated and moving close to our food. I understood if the price is less, this would be condition.Ordered biriyani and waited for about 30 minutes. It came with raita only, no kurma. We wanted to move out of the place as soon as possible given the noisy and crowded conditions. We are willing to pay more, but won't visit again, unless they provide better condition.

Concept of Amma's Kitchen came from Tamilnadu, India when Jayalalita start this concept to provide good food at cheap price (especially to cater poor ), That's why price in India is always very minimal..Same we're continue in Edison, NJ.. As both me and my wife enjoy South Indian food, we thought to give it a try..Overall, very good experience.. Food was amazing and very authentic.. Also portion size was more than enough..I personally enjoyed Veg combo meal and it's must try..They have outside seating but we sit inside as it was cold .. so something to try if there is a nice weather ..Highly Recommended!!

Food is good but they use very thin use-and-throw plastic plates and bowls when you dine in which is not good for customers’ health. Sometimes they place banana leaf on the top of those plastic plates which is good but you can’t do it to those dishes served in bowls. Please use a better quality plastic plates, bowls or real plates

The best place to have breakfast during the mornings while you are waiting for other restaurants which opens arounnd 11:30 am or 12 pm.This one is on oak tree road near apna bazaar. Not a nice place to sit and eat as the ambience sucks but the taste it really good.Do not go if you are looking for a nice place to sit and eat.Easy and fast food, cheap and best.Try the tiffin combo and its worth every penny…..

This place is tucked in a strip mall & is a modest take away place to grab your food, they have a small seating area which is kept clean , we love to eat our dosa here & not do a take out as the dosas become soggy if taken home. A perfect place to grab the best breakfast platter for just $5 , and even better because this platter is served throughout the day. It consists of one small sada dosa, one idli , one vada, small but decent portion of pongal , coconut chutney & garlic tomato chutney on the side & a small bowl of sambhar!! The taste is to die for, its just the way we grew up eating back in our country, comforting, tasty & not heavy on spices yet not bland, just like a good home cooked meal, & this platter is pretty filling. They also serve idlis @ 1 each, vadas @1 eachWe love the amma’s kichen biryani too , its neither too spicy nor too bland & tastes amazingly good, yet again you will be reminded of home cooked comforting food!!Our go to food here is the biryani thought, we also love their breakfast platter or stock up idlis for lunch next day usually

Best place for south indian food in Edison, period. Have been here multiple times. had thali, biryani, fish fry, breakfast combo etc , each item is genuinely good and tasty. prices here are unbeatable, when similar places are more expensive. will suggest this place for folks looking for good authentic south Indian food.

We have been to this place several other times and each time the food we ordered was great. We tried their chicken biriyani, masala Dosa, and Andhra spicy Dosa, chicken and paratha. Each time the food was fresh, hot and delicious ?? what makes even better is the price. Everything is $10-$15 and comes with a big serving. For example today the Andhra spicy Dosa I ordered was $10.66 with tax and it came with a very tasty samber, chatny and spicy mashed potatoes inside the folded Dosa ?
