If you're going to wear a cap in New Jersey, why not wear a San Soo Kap? This is the pretty standard pre-packaged sushi place that is popular but not amazing. It's got one good thing going for it, which is that it's very cheap, and such is the strength of it, but the sushi doesn't taste great and definitely doesn't taste fresh either. I think the quality of the pre-packaged sushi here has dropped since my first visit a couple years ago. The salmon roll I had today looked lovely-- nice stripes of glistening fat-- but was a little stiff/felt like it was getting stale, even though the packaging date was today, and I came for early dinner around 4pm. So, the taste is right, just not the feel-- quite a shame for how beautiful those salmon chunks appear. What hasn't changed is the sweet old lady who is always working...read full review
Not a bad option if you're in the mood for some Unagi Don, ramen, or sushi while at H-Mart. Obviously not gourmet food, and perhaps some of the dishes are a little overpriced but they also have some good deals. Each meal comes with a side of house kimchi which has a fresh taste to it (I assume it's not fermented very long).
