when I came here it was honestly just empty, except for one table with a few people. We had to call out for a lady to come and give us a table and that took up at least 5-8 minutes of our time. When we got a table, the utensils were so so cleaned & the drinks were ok, but the water tasted like tap water and the tea just tasted like hot water with a hint of tea which was honestly disappointing. The food didn’t take that long to come which was pretty nice, the soup dumplings were good and the chicken was a little too cold for my liking. The meat was a little too hard to bite into but it could just be me but the flavor was definitely there. Kitchen was pretty empty, and there was one lady working outside of the kitchen which was surprising. The walls had some stains on them & the exterior was not very attractive. But the experience was good, if I had to rate it, I would rate it a 6.5/10.

Drove over an hour to try this place. Went in and checked out the menu. Restaurant was completely empty except for the workers sitting at a table. Was totally ignored. I even looked at them to try and get their attention. Not until I turned to leave did they acknowledge me. Too late. Disappointed.

The pork soup dumplings were so so compare to other Shanghai restaurants. It seems like there was food coloring added to it, and the dumpling itself is so thick compared to others as well. The salted fish fried rice is excellent just like Penang across the street!

The spicy peanut noodles was fantastic. And the dumplings were so delicious. Cant wait to go back. There is plenty more in their menu that I still want to try. And the service was great. Would recommend to anyone.

I can tell that this is a family-owned business because the atmosphere is cozy and lacks all the expensive decor. And every time my family goes there it is being handled by one lady. This restaurant takes cash only and does not take credit cards - so be aware when you go to this restaurant. However, nothing beats the food. Everything tastes good and nothing is fake. The food is real authentic Taiwanese dish. The dumplings are huge but sometimes the taste is hit or miss. Regardless this is one of my family's favorite restaurant for a quick bite.

Shanghai Noodle House, is often a must stop when I am passing through NJ via Rt.1. They are not your typical Chinese restaurant with General Tao’s Chicken or Boneless spare ribs. Shanghai Noodle house is a more traditional style Chinese Food with dishes like Beef Noodle or appetizers like Jellyfish. If you are looking for something more authentic then try Shanghai Noodle House.

New nice and clean environmenty, delicious hand made noodle. The bow is so big (seem to be 10inch)! The price is surprisingly only $11.95 especially considering the inflation now days!!

The food was fantastic. The menu was overwhelming. There were so many choices. Some of these dishes reminded me of childhood days. We would definitely come back. If you visit bring cash only, no credit cards. Glad we bought cash that day.

-dined in prepandemicFood is cheap and edible. I loved their breakfast options, but I saw a cockroach on the wall right next to me.I’m no stranger to roaches having lived in nyc but I thought I left that in the past. Didn’t expect to go down nightmare memory lane while having breakfast.

Not sure if they switched ownerships but the quality of this place fell off a cliff. Used to be regulars but now you order a $15 rice box and get frozen mixed veggies and flavorless meat. Will never come back again.

noodle soup- noodles did not have the "Q"/ bounciness . Tasted like those in refrigerated packets. The soup tastes like flavoring packets and quite salty, especially with the mustard greens. "Stinky" tofu tasted off and did not have the expected smelly-ness. Only saving grace was the beef ho fun which was decent. (hence 2 stars instead of 1). Waitress did the absolute minimum, and seemed annoyed when asked questions about availability of something off the menu (oyster pancakes). Agreed with the other review that the lighting is very dead/hospital like. Halfway through normal peak dinner around 6-7pm, we were the only table left and was so quiet/cold feeling. Not recommended.

TLDR: The vibe of the restaurant and food is SOULLESS. I used to dine here with family and it was solid, but it felt like a massive disappointment coming back.- beef noodle soup: Broth tasted like WATER, flavored with some spices and a veggie that adds sour flavor. The noodles (looked like udon) had a near mushy bite to it- Soup dumplings: 4 star back then —> 2 star now. Huge disappoint in quality- Stir fry string beans: I get this at most chinese restaurants, and this tasted cheap and costed more compared to other placesSERVICE: Only table there, average at best- They served us cold tea when it was supposed to be hot.- They pushed for cash or venmo payment after handing over the bill. When we said no, the waitress looked at me and asked insistently, “Dont you have venmo?”I understand maybe that this restaurant may not be doing well, but the food speaks for itself. It is a waste of my money and I would never come back.
